Dear Hughes Parents, Guardians, and Students,
In order to allow families and students to enjoy meaningful time together over the holidays, we will not be assigning homework or studying for major assessments over the Winter Break. If projects or assessments are ongoing they will not be due immediately upon our return. We hope this will refresh our students and give everyone time for a healthy balance of activities beyond school. We suggest reading for pleasure, serving your community in some way and enjoying time with loved ones! When we return from break there are three weeks until the end of the second quarter. We will return on a Grey Day (even classes) schedule.

AVID is looking for college student guest speakers:
If you have a student or family friend in college, please consider asking them to come speak to the students in our AVID elective. The speakers would mainly need to talk about academic skills you need to be successful in college, what college is like, and how they overcome challenges. Guest speakers would have to come for 30 minutes (either 7:45-8:15am or 8:30-9:00am). Dates are flexible, although Fridays work best. Please contact Kristina Burke (ktburke@fcps.edu).

Do you love to dance?
Have you ever thought of being on a dance team? Come join the South Lakes High School Varsity Dance Team dance at a basketball game! Dancers will come to a rehearsal with the current dance team and perform at a home basketball game! The fee includes a shirt for all to wear at the performance!
