CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LONGFELLOW SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM!
The Longfellow Science Olympiad team is proud to announce its first place finish at the National Cathedral School Invitational this past Saturday. This is the third consecutive year the team has won this invitational and the competition gets tougher every year! Longfellow Science Olympiad team members are Raka Adakroy, Arya Bharath, David Cao, Alina Chen, Claire Chen, Winston Chin, Khoi Dinh, Alexander Do, Rohan Kalahasty, Ronit Kapur, Jaiden Khemani, Punav Khetarpal, Lucas Kim, Kavya Kuttuva, Phong Lam, Aneek Mandal, Tanmay Neema, Daniel Qiu, Evan Ru, Serenna Semonsen, Krishnan Shankar, Patrick Shi, Jean-Paul Stagarescu, Luke Steinbicker, Elissa Thomas, Tucker Trissell, Sreeja Vemuri, Arthur Wu, Eric Xue and Rita Yu. The team is coached by Susan Boomer and Julie Cox with help from Monica Kumar and Teresa Trissell. The team will compete this Saturday at the Lake Braddock Science Olympiad Invitational -- please wish them luck!

Today, Friday, December 13th is the last day for the In-school Book Fair. However, online purchases will continue through December 14th at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/longfellowms We are so grateful for the PTA, and our parent volunteers, for the organization, time and support in making this endeavor a successful one for Longfellow MS. A special Thank You to Lisa Fraser for taking the lead on the Book Fair, and for all her efforts and dedication. MCLEAN GIRLS BASKETBALL YOUTH NIGHT
McLean HS is hosting a HOLIDAY MOVIE & CRAFT NIGHT tonight, December 13th, from 5-6:30pm! Come on over and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas while doing holiday crafts before heading to the main gym to watch the Lady Highlander Basketball team take on Westfield. This event is open to all McLean students as well as middle and elementary school students and is being held in the Lecture Hall @ McLean HS. *All elementary school students who wear their youth basketball jersey will get into the girls varsity basketball game FREE with a paying adult.
MCLEAN HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM NIGHT
January 8th (this is a change from the original date), 6:30 p.m. McLean High School Auditorium You are cordially invited to an informational meeting for the parents of the McLean High School Class of 2024. The meeting will include course planning for September 2020-21 and beyond, an opportunity to meet and hear from McLean High School administrators, and a curriculum fair with McLean teachers available to answer questions. DEADLINE FOR AAP LEVEL IV REFERRALS
This is a friendly reminder that the deadline for referring students in Grades 2-7 for AAP full-time Level IV consideration is January 9, 2020. Referrals should be submitted to your child’s Longfellow school counselor. Parents are welcome to submit early, but no late referrals will be accepted. We advise parents not to wait for pending abilities test scores if they would like their student screened. Click here for forms and documents related to the AAP screening process. If you have any questions about this process, please contact your child’s school counselor.
