Bruins Philanthropy Club Food and Supplies Drive for Fellow Bruins
The deadline for this drive is Monday, December 16.
The student-led Bruins Philanthropy Club is holding a drive for our own LBSS families in need. Unlike other drives, this is by us for us.  

The Philanthropy Club has partnered with the school counselors, SCA and SGA to provide toys and canned goods in a wrapped box. They desperately need gift cards, one for each family.  Any amount from any store, though ideally from Walmart, Target or supermarkets, would be greratly appreciated!

Winter Choral Concert - Tuesday, December 17
We hope to see you at this special concert that will feature performances by our LBSS Choir, Orchestra and Band. AND we'll have future Bruin musicians from elementary school and middle school participating too! FCPS Back2Fairfax Teacher Seminar - December 17

Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
at Gatehouse Administration Center Cafe

The Office of Talent Acquisition & Management (TAM) will host the second annual Back2Fairfax Teacher Seminar at the Gatehouse Administration Center on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. 

This event will give current high school juniors, seniors, graduates, and former FCPS Teachers for Tomorrow students an opportunity to meet and hear from teachers and administrators in Fairfax County Public Schools. 

Participants will attend breakout sessions that will cover a variety of topics including: developing a resume, preparing for an interview, applying for a license, finding the school that is the right fit, and teacher and administrator panels.  

Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit with exhibitors from Title I, Early Childhood, Pre-Teacher Employment with FCPS, Great Beginnings, Teacher Leadership, Employee Benefits, and various professional groups and organizations.

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Public Service Award
Ms. Anne Wardinski, Marketing teacher and DECA advisor, was recently awarded the Public Service Award 2019 by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Wardinski was presented this well-deserved honor for serving our Lake Braddock and FCPS students for over 20 years! Congratulations, Ms. Wardinski!

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce is a great supporter of our students. Members have visited the school to listen to student presentations, judged competitions, conduct mock interviews, attend tailgates and conferences, provide opportunities for Bridging Bruins, scholarships and more. Earlier this school year, Ms. Kim Clarke, the Chamber President, and her intern visited Lake Braddock to listen to Advanced Marketing student presentations on how the Chamber could improve its social media presence. Please note that all students will be entering courses through their SIS StudentVue account.  Parents will be able to see the courses students have selected using their ParentVue account.  Enrolling parents who have not yet set up a ParentVue account will be receiving a letter in the mail that includes their activation code and instructions for how to set up your account.  Additional information on your ParentVue account can be found HERE.

2020 FCPS Gap Year Fair: February 4, 2020
FCPS School Counseling Services and Go Overseas are hosting the 9th annual FCPS Gap Year Fair on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at George C. Marshall High School from 6:00-8:30 p.m.  This event is for high school students and parents who are interested in learning more about the variety of experiences available and growing array of gap year opportunities. 

The evening will begin with an informational presentation in the auditorium from 6:00-6:45 p.m.  Immediately following, the program fair, with representatives from over 40 programs offering gap year opportunities, will take place in the school cafeteria from 6:45-8:30 p.m.  Students are encouraged to pre-register for this event.  For more information, visit FCPS Gap Year Fair (https://www.fcps.edu/node/33069).

In the event of inclement weather, the snow date and location will be Friday, February 7, 2020, at George C. Marshall High School from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
