Advanced Academic Program Level IV Referral Deadline – January 9, 2020
This is a friendly reminder that the deadline for referring students in Grades 2-7 for AAP full-time Level IV consideration is due no later than January 9, 2020. Parents are welcome to submit early, but no late referrals will be accepted. We advise parents not to wait for pending abilities test scores if they would like their student screened. While the Grade 2 screening pool casts a starting point for screening some students, test scores are only one factor in the eligibility decision. If you would like more information about Level IV AAP services or the screening process for Level IV, there are two parent presentations available on the AAP public website that have the same information that was shared at our local school information meetings. The Level IV Referral Form and Parent Questionnaire can be also be found on the AAP public website. Referrals can be submitted to the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Jennifer Redford, at any time up through January 9. Referrals can be dropped off at the front office (Attn: Jennifer Redford) or sent via email (jaredford@fcps.edu).

Positivity Project - Week of December 16th
This week’s character strength is Self-Control. Those who possess this strength have the ability to control their emotions and behaviors and think before they act. Self-control is the act of managing behavior in a way that positively influences goal attainment and living up to standards. Possessing this strength protects people from destabilizing emotional extremes. Those with self-control are able to limit impulsive behavior. They have the ability to experience and navigate difficulty while remaining poised. For individuals, self-control helps them delay the short-term gain in pursuit of a greater, long-term success.
This Coming Week’s Character Strength: Self-Control
Week of January 6th's Positivity Project Focus: Optimism
