Senior Wrestling

WRESTLING SENIOR NIGHT!

Dear Fairfax Families,

It’s been a productive and  busy week at FHS.  On Tuesday night we recognized our senior wrestlers at their first home meet of the season. They beat Justice HS, winning every match and pinning their opponents in 13 out of 14 matches.  Before the crack of dawn on Wednesday, forty-six of our Marketing students headed off to New York City where they had opportunities to meet with experts in the field of fashion and sports and entertainment marketing which included two former FHS students. We are so proud of these two FHS alumni who used their experiences at Fairfax to build careers in the marketing field. At the end of the week we had our annual Stat Olympics, a fun activity fair put on by the Prob/Stat classes. Participants in the fair were invited to test their skills in short games involving eating, balancing, and manual dexterity with results recorded by the Prob/Stat students.

Thank you to the parents who participated in this morning’s principal’s coffee. Tim Brown, School Based Technology Specialist, led a discussion on digital citizenship and the use of social media. We had some great conversations on the many plusses and minuses of social media and how the school can help parents navigate this everchanging format of communication. Look to future News You Choose that will include links to help in navigating social media platforms.

Next week, I invite to you attend the Band Concert on Thursday, December 12th at 7:00 PM. It is wonderful and relaxing way to spend an evening during a time that is often hectic for many.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

With Participation Respect Integrity Determination Empathy,

Jason Smolinski, Geosystems teacher, and Elisa, Natalie, and Stephen attended GIS Day at the Fairfax County Government Center!

These three students were representing our class in giving the “students choice award” to a Fairfax County GIS employee who developed an app that displays construction plans in a 3D rendering.  The student choice category was new this year and those in attendance loved it!  They were so impressed with Elisa, Natalie, and Stephen.  I had a blast and hope they did, too.
