Administrative Spotlight

North Springfield Families,

This weeks spotlight focuses on the art room. Ms. Pomeroy, our art teacher, works to foster a love of art and expression in all of our students.  She looks for different ways to incorporate art into other subject areas especially science and social studies.  She believes that if students experience many different mediums such as drawing, ceramics, painting, stitchery and weaving, architecture, cut paper, sculpture ,and  printing, students will then develop an appreciation for art as they are learning about famous artists and their works.

Ms. Pomeroy enjoys framing student artwork and displaying it throughout the building.  Our students annually participate in the annual pyramid art show at Annandale High School where students’ work is on display for the whole region to see.  Our fifth grade art show, where each student in 5th grade has one work framed and on display, is one of the highlights at the end of the school year that we all look forward to.

The arts are alive and well at North Springfield with Ms. Pomeroy guiding the program.
