1. Early Checkouts from School
For early dismissals, please complete this Check-Out Form or write a note that includes the student name, date and time, and reason for early check-out, parent signature and contact number. Students must bring the note to the Attendance Office by 9:45 a.m. to receive a pink check-out pass. At the time of dismissal, your son/daughter will bring the pink check-out pass back to the Attendance Office for verification before meeting you outside.
Due to staff responsibilities at the end of the day, we are not able to honor unannounced early dismissals within 15 minutes of school dismissal.
Please know that during the school day we will do our best to retrieve students for unannounced early dismissals; to ensure timely dismissal please follow the procedures above.
For full details on Attendance Procedures, please visit the Attendance page on the Woodson website.
2. Partners for Safe Teen Driving
All new drivers and their parent(s) must attend a state mandated traffic safety seminar, Partners for Safe Teen Driving.
The next seminar will be held in the Woodson auditorium on Monday, December 9th at 7pm. Do not be late - you will not be admitted to the auditorium after 7pm.

3. Senior Parent/Guardian Meeting
Plan to attend the upcoming Senior Parent/Guardian Meeting on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. in Cavalier Hall.

4. PSAT/NMSQT Scores
Scores from the PSAT/NMSQT will be released online to students between Monday-Wednesday, December 9–11.
Students who are at least 13 years old and who shared their email address on their PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet will receive an email reminder from The College Board explaining where and how to view their scores.
Ask your students to create a College Board account so they can easily access their scores once they're released online and unlock a robust set of personalized resources to help them understand their scores. If a student doesn't see their scores when they log in, please have them check with Ms. Guinee or Mrs. Graybill in Student Services.
5. Volunteers Needed for Staff Appreciation
We need your help! Holiday Staff Appreciation on Thursday, December 12th.
Please help us wish our wonderful Woodson Staff and educators a happy holiday season.
We invite Woodson families to bring side dishes, drinks, desserts and help decorate for the annual Holiday Hospitality Room on Thursday, December 12 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Please drop off items either the day before (2:00 - 3:45pm) or the morning of the event (a cart will be set up in the front office to receive items). If possible, please send in a disposable dish/container, or if you wish to have the dish returned, put your name on it. You can pick up your dishes in the front office. We will have holiday music, decorations and light fare for a memorable event for W.T. Woodson staff. Please help continue this tradition of warmth, kindness and appreciation. These make great stocking stuffers for Woodson students, staff, alumni, and graduating seniors.
Purchase your gifts through MySchoolBucks or at the Woodson main office. If ordering online, you can select school pickup or have the items shipped directly to your home. Ornaments are $10.00; magnets are $5.00.
For more information, contact Celeste Jones at cbjones@fcps.edu.
10. Cav Cares Cards
Cav Cares cards are a way that students, parents, community members and staff can recognize Woodson faculty and staff members with notes of appreciation.
This month, Mr. Annear received a Cav Cares card that said, "Mr. Annear, Thanks so much for suggesting that my daughter consider moving up to Honors English. As much as she loved your class, we agree that she'll be better challenged in the honors class. You made quite an impression on her in such a brief period of time though - she raved about your classroom environment, your many accents while reading aloud, and your approach to literature. Thanks so much for caring about my daughter."
You can recognize a Woodson faculty or staff member by filling out a Cav Cares card in the main office.
11. College and Career Newsletter
Are you reading the WTW College and Career Center Newsletter?
In addition to all the great information stored in the compilations at the bottom of the newsletter, there are two new internships, three new special opportunities, and five new scholarships this week.
