Principal Message 11.26.19

Daugherty

Dear Beech Tree Families,

This past weekend, we took two buses to The National Museum of Natural History. The new dinosaur exhibit is so impressive! If you have not had a chance, I recommend taking a day trip over the break. Here is a link of events taking place in our area: http://balancingtoday.com/8-things-to-do-in-the-dc-area-thanksgiving-weekend/

This week we give thanks for all our blessings, so I would like to begin this message by giving thanks to our community. Thank you for trusting us to spend five days a week with you children! Watching them learn and grow throughout the years is an amazing experience. Thank you also for your partnership as we work together to provide a safe, nurturing and challenging school experience. I hope, this Thanksgiving, you are surrounded by friends and family, share happy memories and make new ones!

Not only am I thankful for your children and your partnership. I am also thankful for the dedicated professionals I work with every day at Beech Tree:

Our staff work together collaboratively to teach the whole child. They are experienced in planning and providing for academic, social, and emotional growth and I have seen the positive results year after year. They make it look so easy, but I assure you that what they do takes constant planning and reflection. I would trust them each to teach my own son. Only the best take time to reflect and grow!

When we return from Thanksgiving Break, Ms. Kiri Cooper, our Music Teacher, is taking our Chorus to three community locations for some festive caroling!  We will be at the Thomas Jefferson Library @ 10:30 am, the Gatehouse Administration Center @ 11:15 am and the Willow Oaks Administration Center @ 11:45 am.

Also, Superintendent Scott Brabrand showcased Beech Tree and our very own Dr. Kristen Hollen in his weekly video message. Take a look! watch this short video

As a reminder, our SCA’s Winter Food Drive has begun and will continue through Thursday, December 19th.  Please consider donating non-perishable foods and canned goods. Collected items will go to local food pantry in our area!

As you know, our school community has a number of families who could really use your help to make their holiday much brighter!

Should you choose to sponsor anyone, we ask that you bring all gifts wrapped and labeled with the family number # to the main office by close of business on Monday, December 16th. The link to below will give you the information you need. Please use the link to sponsor the family or families so we each know who is left to sponsor. Thank you for your kindness! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4AAFAC23A75-beech

Our PTA’s annual 5K Race is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th at 9:00am. Please sign up below to support them😊 https://beechtreeelementary5k.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=8319
