Chantilly HS Threat Update

Chantilly Academy Community,

The following message was sent out to the Chantilly High School Community this afternoon. I wanted to share this information with our community as well. Thank you.

"Dear Parents,

I have an update for you regarding the online video game chat message that directed a threat at Chantilly HS for this Friday, November 22.   The student responsible for the message was identified and interviewed by the police.  The student said the message was intended to be a joke and that there was no intention of carrying out the threat.  With both the recent social media and chat message situations resolved, we will maintain normal operations at our school.

Student privacy restrictions prevent us from disclosing any specifics but we certainly understand the anxiety the social media postings discovered over the past few days can create among students, staff, and families.  Threatening behavior of this kind is unacceptable and, in many cases, criminal.  Those responsible are subject to disciplinary consequences as well as possible criminal charges.

All threats are taken seriously.  Parents, please remind your child about the seriousness of this event and that that threatening messages posted on social media are not a joke or prank.  Chantilly High School will continue to be a safe learning environment for staff and students.   I want to thank the police and school security for their assistance in keeping our building, students and staff safe.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the school office."
