General Information
Thanksgiving Attendance
The Attendance Office will be quite busy over the upcoming two weeks. If you plan on missing school for the upcoming break, please have your student pick up a pre-arranged absence form. If your student is going to leave during the school day, please have your student bring an early dismissal note to the attendance first thing in the morning. This will alleviate the strain on our attendance office and will assist you in making sure your child's attendance is marked correctly and expediently. Thank-you for your assistance!
PTSA Meeting November 20
Join us for the PTSA Meeting (Nov 20th at 7pm) where our own Nishi Langhorne, McLean’s Technology Specialist, will discuss FCPSon <https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/fcpson> and the impact of technology on student learning and instruction. She will address your questions in an interactive Q&A session and share resources that will help both students and parents.

School Delays and Cancellations
When FCPS cancels or delays the opening of school due to inclement weather or other emergencies, staff, students, and parents are notified in multiple ways as soon as the decision is made.
FCPS' official Twitter account, @fcpsnews (with the blue check mark), is where you'll first see closing or delay announcements. That's because we've found Twitter to be the fastest, most effective method of disseminating news. Additional communication channels used to announce a delayed opening or closure include FCPS’ public website, email, text, Facebook, local television and radio stations, and Channel 21. Subscribers to the Delayed Openings and School Closings email on News You Choose will also be notified.
Please keep in mind that there may be a delay from the time messages are transmitted to them being received by users. More than 588,000 emails and texts are being transmitted during every weather closure or delay. However, FCPS has no control over how long it takes cell and internet service providers to distribute emails and texts to customers.
Please view FCPS' Weather Cancellation Procedures page for more information on weather closings and delays.

Parents Safe Teen Driving Presentation - 6:30pm
McLean High School will be hosting safe teen driving presentations on
February 3 , and April 20
All presentations start at 6:30 pm.
The state of Virginia requires all 10th grade students and their parent/guardian to attend a 90-minute traffic safety program as part of the classroom driver education instruction. This condition must be met before a student will receive a Driver Education Certificate of Completion (DEC-District 8 card).
The Virginia Department of Education has said that students who complete classroom instruction in a public school must also complete PSTD at the public school. It is not acceptable for a student to complete PSTD at a commercial driving school and receive a DEC-District 8 card from FCPS.
No one will be admitted after the doors have been closed. You are strongly encouraged to attend the program at McLean. If you are unable to attend one of these dates, additional program dates and locations can be found on the Fairfax County Public Schools website at www.fcps.edu.
