"Learning to stand in somebody else's shoes, to see through their eyes, that's how peace begins. And it's up to you to make that happen. Empathy is a quality of character that can change the world." ~ Barack Obama

Attendance Certificates

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

On Friday, we celebrated our students with perfect attendance. Students received a recognition certificate as well as a delicious cookie during lunch. Congratulations to all our students.

This Monday, we will celebrate Veterans' Day during 3rd period. Students will have the opportunity to learn a little more about Army Col. Louis Mendez during our Den Time lesson.  In addition to celebrating Col. Mendez, we will also recognize all of the veterans that work at Justice High School.

On Tuesday during Den Time, students will participate in the first of a series of four culturally responsive lessons. Tuesday's lesson is titled "Intent vs. Impact." Students will learn about perspective taking using a thinking routine "Step-In, Step-out, Step-back."

Congratulations to the JHS Marching Band. During the Fall season, they accomplished the following:

  • First place in class 3A at the USbands show at Century High School in Sykesville, MD on September 21st

Class of 2020- Virginia College Application Week (VCAW) November 18-22

Justice HS will be participating in Virginia’s College Application Week (VCAW).  VCAW is part of a national initiative designed to increase the number of first- generation and low-income students pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential. Participating students are encouraged to submit at least one college application during the week. Students Services has planned activities to provide students hands-on college application assistance and resources, including application fee waivers and informational materials. Events during VCAW will include but not limited to: College Application and Essay Assistance, On Site Admission Days, FAFSA Assistance. Contact Ms. Grande, Career Center Specialist, at agrande@fcps.edu for more information.

Senior Transcripts/Letters of Recommendation

Students must turn in their transcript requests to the Student Services office 30 days in advance of the college deadline. Seniors need to be mindful of the impact of the upcoming winter break when counselors and teachers will not available from 12/23/19 - 01/03/20. Students who do not submit a transcript request prior to break will have their requests processed after break. As long as the student has submitted the application on time, most colleges will offer some leniency in the deadline for the documents that the school must provide. College application sites can sometimes become overloaded on submission deadline dates so students are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to avoid any glitches that may prevent the application from being received by the official deadline. These reminders are sent in an effort to avoid unnecessary stress. Please contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.
