Dear Stenwood Families,
We hope you enjoyed a few extra days with your children this past long weekend! We missed them, but the time was well spent, as our teachers appreciated the time to plan lessons and to meet with parents for conferences. Teachers devote a tremendous amount of their own personal time to create fun and engaging lessons for our students, and we truly appreciate their hard work and dedication, as do you, I’m sure. November is a month of giving thanks…We both extend a heartfelt thanks to our wonderful Stenwood staff, and a heartfelt thanks to our parent community for their support!
We are excited to see many of you who are currently or previously in the military (or family members who have served) at our annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Monday, November 11th at 8:00 a.m. It is our pleasure to honor you and your family’s contributions to our country.
We also have our monthly PTA meeting on Tuesday evening followed immediately by a presentation by our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Mrs. Herendeen. She will be sharing the AAP Screening and Identification process in FCPS. If you are unable to join us Tuesday evening, she will be doing a repeat presentation Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m.

Positivity Project: Bravery
Week of 11/11-11/15
This week we are working on ONE of the FIVE overarching components of the Positivity Project.
Knowing that everything you do and say can affect others-and your relationships with them.
“Solid character will reflect itself in consistent behavior, while poor character will seek to hide behind deceptive words and actions.” ~Myles Munroe
Often times, knowing something and acting like you know it doesn’t line up with each other. For example, you know that your words and actions impact other people, but your behavior doesn’t always show that understanding.
What does it look like to KNOW that your words and actions impact others?

Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Important Dates:
• November 12, 2019 at 7pm – AAP Screening and Identification Parent Meeting (following PTA meeting)
• November 13, 2019 at 8:45am - AAP Screening and Identification Parent Meeting (repeat of night before)
• January 9, 2020 – Level IV Referral Form and optional materials due for AAP Level IV Spring Screening
