Dearest Family Fairfax,
It was a fun week at Fairfax! Storms blew in on Thursday night, but at least it was after our staff and students had a good time dressing up for Halloween, taking both scary and funny pictures, and getting hyped up on sugar and candy. For some, after many late nights, the energy from the sugar was much needed. Several of our seniors are wondering and frustrated about the timing of college applications and the end of the quarter, but our teachers, counselors and school staff have been tremendously supportive during these stressful times.
Congratulations to our Field Hockey team as they advance in the Regional Tournament. Those young ladies and their coaching staff are incredible to see in action, and we will be rooting them on next week as they continue competing! Our football game at South County tonight is the Game of the Week, so tune in to ABC7 for footage and highlights.
Our marching band performed in an assessment last weekend, earning superior rating. It was a beautiful show that takes an enormous amount of manpower from our students and so many members of he band community. After that busy Saturday, the Band and Orchestra programs combined for a fun Masquerade, complete with costumes--It was and is quite the Thriller event.
We all hope that our students, families, and staff find some time to rest up--with our DECA students heading out to compete on Monday, we wish them the very best of luck even though they have incredible skills!
Wishing you all the best,
Erin B. Lenart, Ed.D.

News from Sub School 4
The leaves are ablaze, the air is chilly, the Nationals are champions, and the halls around Sub School 4 smell like candy. My name is Troy Ketch and I am thrilled to be working with families whose last names begin with Rat through Z. I share an office in room D127 with Maureen Keck, assistant principal for Sub School 3. Blanca Sanchez, our awesome administrative assistant, helps take care of our students, families, and teachers. The counselors who serve our students are Tiera Sharpe, Jenny Payne, and Gail Allison. Our Dean of Students is Justina Copeland. Together in Sub School 4, we are committed to helping our students achieve success.
This is my first year with Fairfax High School. It’s also my first year as an assistant principal. I feel so lucky to have found my way to such a warm and welcoming community. For the past 20 years I have been an English teacher, serving as department chair for the last 8 years. Now as the proud assistant principal for Sub School 4, I supervise the English and ESOL departments, AP programs, the front desk, and transportation. My heart is filled with Fairfax PRIDE to be part of such a dedicated team. #canthideourpride
