SCA wants to remind teachers and students about “Treats for Troops.” We will collect leftover Halloween candy for the troops overseas. We kindly ask for wrapped candy. No unwrapped or homemade goodies can be included. Thank you!

Impact Aid

 

The Student-Parent Surveys for Federal Impact Aid were due October 30th.  If you have not returned it, please send the form to your child's teacher tomorrow.  If you need another copy, please call the main office 703-633-6400.


Report Card Distribution

Progress reports can be viewed on November 10, 2019 through your Student Information System (SIS) ParentVUE account.  You can login or create a new account by clicking SIS ParentVUE.  Your child will bring home a paper copy on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  Please review the progress report, sign the progress report envelope on the 1st grading period line and have your child return the envelope to their teacher.

ADVANCED ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Parents, there will be another AAP parent information meeting held at GBE during the PTA meeting on Wednesday, November 13 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in Trailer 1.  Tracey Jenkins, GBE Advanced Academic Resource Teacher will do an overview of the upcoming Level IV center screening and identification process and answer any questions that you may have about the process.  We hope that you can attend! We are in need of several volunteers in order for the Book Fair to be a success.  Please review Sign Up Genius for a time that you are able to help out!


Thanksgiving Luncheon

 Tuesday, November 19, 2019

The students and staff of Greenbriar East Elementary School cordially invite our families to join us for our traditional Thanksgiving luncheon.

Tickets are available for purchase (Checks should be made payable to: Greenbriar East Food Services.)  Ticket(s) will be available in the lobby on Nov. 19th.  Luncheon price is $4.50 for adults and non-students.  Students may purchase their lunches using their lunch account or with cash.  The price for students is the same as a regular meal $3.25.  The lunch schedule for your child’s class went home in Wednesday folders.  Please make sure to look it over so that you may join him/her in the cafeteria at the appropriate time.

Volunteers Needed

If you are planning to have lunch with your child please determine when their mealtime is scheduled and then, if possible, give a little bit of your time to volunteering for the Thanksgiving Luncheon. Just a little bit of time can make a HUGE difference to the children, teachers and staff. Please consider joining our efforts by volunteering for a shift on this very special day.

Can you identify a teacher that understands students’ individual needs or has strengthened our school through outstanding leadership? Is there a staff member that goes above and beyond establishing a strong relationship with parents and the community? If so, please take a moment to nominate a staff member in one of the following categories:

Has at least three years of experience as a teacher; librarians are included in this category

It is important that you are specific and thorough when describing your nominee.  Your comments will be shared among the Greenbriar East ES Awards Committee to help determine our school winners.  Our top nominees will then be sent to a larger pool in the Chantilly Pyramid.  Please write 2 descriptive paragraphs highlighting your nominee’s strengths (75 words or more).

CHANTILLY PYRAMID TO HONOR VETERANS AND ACTIVE-DUTY PERSONNEL IN EVENING CELEBRATION ON NOVEMBER 12

All Local Vets and Active-Duty Service Members Are Invited to Attend

On November 12, 2019, all FCPS schools in the Chantilly High School pyramid will host a special event to honor local veterans and active-duty military personnel. Organized by the Chantilly pyramid and the non-profit group iWitnessed-> iRemember, the evening celebration will feature a series of special musical performances from Chantilly ensembles, a dessert reception supported by Mission B-B-Q, Wegmans, and other local businesses, and a special focus on the service of World War II veterans as we prepare for the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The evening celebration will begin at 6 p.m. in the Chantilly High School auditorium. All veterans and active-duty service personnel who live or work in western Fairfax County are invited to attend and may sign up here: chantilly-thanks-our-veterans.eventbrite.com
