Book Character Day

alice

Does your child have a favorite book?  This year we are asking students to dress up on October 31st for Book Character Day!  This will be a fun day for all students and staff to celebrate our favorite book characters! Please make sure your students are not wearing slippers or masks to school.  We also encourage students to bring in a copy of the book their character is in!  Let's make it a great day!

Thanksgiving Lunch

Thanksgiving Lunch

You are cordially invited to enjoy our traditional Thanksgiving lunch in the Shrevewood Café  (cafeteria) with your child. Students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades will have their luncheon on Thursday, November 21, 2019. 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will have their luncheon on Friday, November 22, 2019. Prices for the meals are $4.25 for all adults and guests, and $3.25 for  Shrevewood students. Federal subsidies may only be applied for enrolled students.  All other students who are guests must pay the guest fee.

For your convenience, you will be able to purchase your lunch, receive a name tag, and sign into the office using your ID when you enter the building. Please have exact change.  You must wear the name tag while in the building, and the name tag will inform the cafeteria manager that you have paid for your lunch.

We will follow the schedule listed on the back of this flyer as much as possible (it might vary depending on how quickly we can move classes through the line). Please arrive at least ten to fifteen minutes early to purchase your lunch and sign in at the office.

Reservations forms were sent home.  Please return them by October 31.

Kiss & Ride

SHREVEWOOD KISS & RIDE GUIDELINES

Most elementary schools in Fairfax County have established an area called the Kiss & Ride, which is designed as a safe place for adults in private vehicles to load and unload children. The Kiss & Ride is separate from the school bus area, which helps schools to avoid problems associated with cars passing buses, or cars parking in bus only zones and fire lanes. It also establishes a pedestrian traffic pattern to keep children safe. Our hope is that if all drivers cooperate with guidelines, we will be able to provide an efficient and safe transfer of children. To ensure safety for everyone, observe the following rules when loading and unloading children:

  • All cars must follow the designated route for Kiss & Ride. See map below for further details.
  • You must display your Kiss & Ride number that you are assigned in your windshield EVERY DAY at pick up.
  • Pull forward as far as possible into four drop off zones before loading or unloading.
  • Load and unload in the Kiss & Ride area only.
  • Load and unload from the passenger side of the car only.
  • Keep “good-byes” brief.
  • Remain in the driver’s seat. (Staff members can assist with car doors.)
  • Do not pass other cars that are loading or unloading unless directed to do so.
  • Do not park in the Kiss & Ride lane and leave your car unattended.
  • Do not park in the parking lot to load or unload children.
  • All students must wear seatbelts and/or be in a carseat if appropriate.
Exit Kiss & Ride promptly after loading or unloading children.
  • As designated by Virginia Law, Shrevewood parking lot is a hands-free cell phone zone.
