I can’t believe we have already finished 9 weeks of the school year. Reminder, the last day of the First quarter is this Friday, November 1. There is no school for students November 4 and November 5. In this edition there is information about Book Character Day, Cultural Potluck, PTA meeting and Bingo Night. Thank you to everyone that participated in last week’s events with Donuts for Dads and Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. The year is off to a great start and I am so excited to see how much more we can accomplish.

 Book character day October 31
On Thursday, October 31 come dressed up as your favorite book character. We love to see all of our students dressed up as their favorite character.
Pajama Day November 1
The last day of the quarter is Friday, November 1. Wear your comfortable, school appropriate pajamas to celebrate all the hard work this quarter.
Multi-Cultural Potluck- 5:30-7:00 Thursday, Nov 7
Centre Ridge is proud to host our second annual Multicultural potluck. Please bring your favorite dish from your country and join us for an open potluck meal. Bring a big appetite as there are so many amazing dishes to sample. I look forward to the amazing conversations and sharing that will take place.
Thanksgiving lunch November 21/22
The Thanksgiving lunch will be served on Thursday, November 21- Grades 1,3,2, and Multi-Age and Friday, November 22-Grades Kindergarten, 4,5 and 6. Letters will be sent home this Tuesday.
 PTA News and Notes
PTA Meeting Tuesday, November 12- Spanish PTA 6:00 General PTA 6:30
Next PTA meeting will be Tuesday, November 12. The Spanish PTA meeting will be at 6:00. The general PTA meeting will begin at 6:30. Valerie Carter, the Advanced Academic teacher will be at the meeting to speak about the referral and screening process for the full-time Level IV Advanced Academic Program.
Bingo Night November 15
The PTA will be hosting the annual Centre Ridge Bingo night on Friday, November 15. The doors will open at 6:00 and we will begin playing at 6:30. Lots of great prizes to win and all proceeds will go to the PTA.
Read-a-Thon
Thank you to everyone for participating in the Read-a-Thon. Our CRES students read a whopping 134,555 minutes! Total donations collected was $9,089.85.

Positivity Project
I hope that your students enjoyed learning the past two week’s traits: Perspective and Integrity. Next week, we will learn about creativity -- and looking at the world in new and original ways.
Free and Reduced-Price meal applications
Online applications for free and reduced-price meals for the 2019-20 school year are now being accepted. Completing the application online results in faster processing time. Electronic meal applications are available in the following languages:
- Arabic
- Chinese
- English
- Tagalog
- French
- Spanish
- Vietnamese
Paper applications are still available to complete and submit. They are available at school offices, school cafeterias, and other FCPS buildings. Paper applications must be the original red print forms. Copied application forms cannot be accepted.
Parents and guardians can now complete the free and reduced-price meal application and the consent to share information in the same document.
