Mr. McCann, Region 5 Executive Principal, visited GBE this week. He also met Mina Habibi, grade 6 student who will represent FCPS and GBE on a panel discussion during a Congressional Briefing in DC to talk about how technology is supporting their learning.
GBE School Picture Day
Monday, October 21st
Monday, October 21, 2019, is GBE School Picture Day for all students. It’s that time of the year again to capture school memories with portraits by Lifetouch. An order form was sent home in your child’s Wednesday Folder, to explain detailed information as well as the payment envelope. Additional order forms will be available in the front office.
You may also choose to pay online at mylifetouch.com:
GBE’s Picture Day ID: HJ249084Q0
If you would like to order the picture packet, your child must have the payment envelope or online receipt at the time of his/her picture is taken on Monday, October 21st.
If for some reason your child misses this opportunity on Monday, October 21st or you do not like the results, picture make-up day will be on Wednesday, December 4th.

Beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.
All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30.
All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

FCPS Library Catalog
This year FCPS has an updated library management system. You now have the ability to monitor your child’s library account. This means you (and your child) can see what they have checked out, renew items that are overdue, and place HOLDS on up to two books. Please watch a short video to learn how to access and log in to your child’s account. (You will need to know your student’s Username and Password in order to access their account.) If you have any questions please contact our librarian, Katie Bruechert KEBruechert@fcps.edu or 703-633-6400

There have been so many people to help the PTA prepare for the festival this year! HUGE thank yous, specifically, to Matt DiGaudio, Cindy Stern, Joe Dettor, allllll the room parents, Baard Grindal, Shawna McKeown, Brian Smith, Leah Smith, Poonam Ramgopal, Andrea Begley, Beth Palarca, Caroline Quezada, Laura Rodriguez, and Aleks Kosanin. And of COURSE to our amazing sponsors and everyone who’s helped us in any way—you are so, so appreciated!
Sara McClung, the PTA VP, would also like to publicly thank the rest of the board (Yulia Sanapuji, Shannon DiGaudio, and Roxanne Bristol) for how hard they’ve worked (all year and) for the Fall Festival especially. Organizing vendors, staying up late to plan, taking on a million big & little extras that will help this festival amazing. The list would make this post a novel, but everyone should know how tirelessly these women have been working for the event!
Our adult volunteer sign up is still open, with plenty of spots that we can use your help with! If you can offer a small bit of time, click here!

Silent Auction!
The online portion of our silent auction closes TONIGHT at 9! Want to get a few last-minute bids in? There’s still time! http://gbepta.org/silentauction (PLEASE NOTE the website ends in .org not .com!)
