Principal Message 10.16.19

Daughtery

Dear Beech Tree Families,

Fall has arrived! Thank goodness for the much needed rain! Tomorrow, Thursday, October 17th, we invite you to join our Advanced Academics Teacher, Patty Settel, in the library at 6:30pm. She will share information about AAP in FCPS and at Beech Tree. Next week, on Thursday, October 24th, we invite you to join our assistant principal, Maureen Lopez, and myself, to learn more about Title I in FCPS and at Beech Tree. We will be in the library at 6:30pm.

One of my favorite events to enjoy when my son was young enough to go where Mom wanted to go, was a Fall Harvest Family Day at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. There is an entrance fee, but it was such a unique Virginia experience, you may want to consider checking it out. Here’s the link for the event:

The last week of October, we will host our annual Character Day Parade, on October 31st at 9:20 in the morning. All are encouraged to be creative and dress like a favorite story book character. Ms. Lopez and I already have our costumes in honor of this year’s musical, “The Jungle Book!” We’re hoping for a nice cool day, because being furry warms you up! 😉

We also wanted to let you know that beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

As always, thank you for your trust and feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
