Congratulations to the teachers and staff for their outstanding achievement in working with our students.
Our Book Fair raises money to buy more books for our library for every student to use.
If you are unable to shop with your child during those times, you might want to consider setting up an eWallet online for secure payment during the Book Fair. You can set up a designated amount for your student to spend using your debit or credit card information. For more information on how to set up eWallet, visit the Book Fair website.
Please see Mrs. Wise, Fort Hunt Elementary School Librarian and Book Fair Chair with any questions you might have about the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing you in the library!
The Fishmobile visited our school on Tuesday, October 22nd.
Kindergarten, 5th and 6th grade students cycled through and learned about marine life as it relates to the horseshoe crab and box turtle. They touched baby horseshoe crabs and baby turtles. Inside the mobile aquarium they saw fish, turtles, an albino blue crab covered with algae, and other crabs. The horseshoe crab doesn’t look like a crab. Their mouths are located in the middle of their underbelly. Their tail is used to turn themselves over and for balance. Therefore, students learned to be careful because their tails can break off. Horseshoe crab blood is blue and used to detect bacteria in vaccines. They are an endangered species. Horseshoe crabs can grow quite large. Box turtles can live for over one hundred years. Box turtles earned their name from how they look once they retreat in their shell.
Thank you to the PTA for providing this unique learning opportunity for some of our young foxes!

5th Grade Teacher
Our yearbook theme this year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fort Hunt Elementary School. That’s half a century our school has been open to students! Students, use your creativity to design a yearbook cover drawing that honors this important milestone. The winner will be selected by Fort Hunt teachers and staff. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place winners will have their design on the back cover. Your drawings MUST:
1. Be on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper 2. Relate to our school’s 50th anniversary 3. Fort Hunt Elementary and 2019-2020 must be in your drawing 4. Include our mascot, Artie the Fox! 5. Be drawn by you, and NO TRACING! 6. Have your first and last name & grade on the back
Color pencils work best, but please, COLOR DARK! If your drawing is too light it will not transfer well!
We are excited to see what creative ideas you come up with!
Please turn in your drawings to Mr. Green by
Friday, November 1st.
