Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. You will be receiving them in your child's Wednesday Folder on Wednesday October 23, 2019. Please look for it!

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

Marine Quartet

qaurtet

Our third and fourth grade students had the pleasure to spend a morning last week with the Marine Quartet. The kids heard songs from different countries and time periods, as well as learned about the history and roles of the Marine Band.

Basketball FHES Staff vs Students

basketball

On Monday, October 14th, many staff members from Fort Hunt took their talents to the Creekside Community Center to take on students in a friendly little game of 3 on 3 basketball.  The staff was expecting a minor battle, but it was full on war.

The students played their hearts out and made their teachers work for every W.  On a few occasions, the students showed such PERSEVERANCE and DETERMINATION that they came from behind and were able to win.  Through it all, RESPECT was given and received, INTEGRITY was the shining star, and EXCELLENCE was all around.  We can’t wait for the next one!

Yearbook Cover

Our yearbook theme this year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fort Hunt Elementary School. That’s half a century our school has been open to students! Students, use your creativity to design a yearbook cover drawing that honors this important milestone. The winner will be selected by Fort Hunt teachers and staff. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place winners will have their design on the back cover. Your drawings MUST:

1. Be on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper
2. Relate to our school’s 50th anniversary
3. Fort Hunt Elementary and 2019-2020 must be in your drawing
4. Include our mascot, Artie the Fox!
5. Be drawn by you, and NO TRACING!
6. Have your first and last name & grade on the back

Color pencils work best, but please, COLOR DARK! If your drawing is too light it will not transfer well!

We are excited to see what creative ideas you come up with! Please turn in your drawings to Mr. Green by Friday, November 1st.
