Did you know…The Princeton Review writes, “The link between success and stress has become so strong in some students’ minds that they actually view stress as proof that they’re good students. They humble-brag about how late they stayed up last night writing a paper or how many hundreds of flashcards they made. The key is to shift your focus from what you’re studying to how you’re studying. “

Wednesday, October 16- 2 hour early release (at 12:55 p.m.)

9th Grade Students- Focus on the 4 C's and Academic and Career Planning

Students will be engaged in several important conversations around our 4 C’s (Care, Connect, Celebrate and Commence) as we look at wellness, the LHS Honor Code, class elections and their own Academic and Career Plan through Naviance Student.  These lessons will support students in their successful transition to high school and better prepare them for the next four years and beyond.  We are especially excited about the opportunity to CONNECT and CELEBRATE as a class as we support community within the class of 2023.

10th and 11th Grade Students- PSAT Testing

For Sophomores and Juniors, the day will begin with Period 1 (30 minutes), followed by a 15 minute break.  Testing begins promptly at 8:50, no students will be admitted to a test room after 9:15.  Students with time accommodations will begin testing promptly at 8:10, those not at their test site by 8:30, will be unable to test with time accommodations, but may take the standard test beginning at 8:50.  Students with time accommodations should arrange for after-test transportation as it is unlikely the test will be completed before bus departures at 12:55.

On test day all students are responsible for bringing 2-#2 pencils,  and a calculator for use on the math section (see College Board Acceptable Calculator List), however the test is designed such that it can be taken without a calculator.  Regrettably, there is not a supply of calculators available to be lent if a student fails to either bring a calculator or brings a non-approved calculator.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our testing coordinator, Ms. Jan Dabroski at jldabroski@fcps.edu.

REMINDER: “Any electronic device that isn’t turned in or packed away on the side of the room may be collected and its contents inspected as part of an investigation. If your cell phone makes a noise or creates a disturbance while in your possession, you’ll be dismissed from testing (College Board).”

12th Grade Students- Essay Writing Assistance

On Wed, Oct 16, LHS will host College Essay Writing assistance for seniors with English 12 teachers in Rooms 2425, 2427, 2627 and 2628 from 8:30 am-11:30 am on a first come, first served basis.
