Next Parent Meeting –October 21st

Helping your child with reading and academics at home                                  

Our own Rachel Morris, reading resource teacher will be sharing tips and information that will benefit all parents. Please join us as parents on October 21st!

Although all topics have not yet been determined, the following dates are secured in our library for these meetings.   Additional dates that we have scheduled on the calendar include November 18th, January 13th, February 24th, March 16th, April 20th, and May 18th.  

Mark your calendars now!!  We hope to see you there!

AAP (Advanced Academic Referrals) are DUE Thursday, October 10, 2019

Mrs. Clatterbuck is your contact with any questions you may have about the upcoming deadlines for parent referrals for their child to be considered for the AAP programs.  Any students in grades 2-6 who are new to the county AAP Level IV referrals are due October 10, 2019.

Referrals for all other students (including the current second grade students) for AAP Level IV services are due no later than January 9, 2020. Please see https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs for more information.

AAP Parent Meeting #1 Coming Up!!

Please join Mrs. Clatterbuck on Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:00 pm in the library to learn more about FCPS Advanced Academic Programs. If you would like to know more about our continuum of services, please view the video located at http://dl.ebmcdn.net/fcps/courses/AAP_Overview_083019B/presentation_html5.html. This is the same information that will be delivered on October 23rd. Level IV referrals for families new to the county are due October 10th. January 10th is the deadline for Level IV screening referrals for all other students. Another meeting (Parent Meeting #2) to explain that specific process is scheduled for November 6th.  Please contact Mrs. Clatterbuck at mhclatterbuc@fcps.edu if you have questions or concerns.

Fire Department Open House

In celebration of Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12), all Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department stations will host an open house on Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. All Fairfax County Fire Stations Career and Volunteer are participating and welcome guests during Open House!

Positivity Project

This week the character trait that everyone is learning about is

“Being present and giving others my attention”.  This trait focuses on the importance of paying attention to others when they are talking or sharing within learning, playing and at home!
