Walk to School Day is a Big Success

Over 100 FCPS Schools Participate

International Walk to School Day took place on October 2, 2019 with 108 FCPS schools registering their events.  FCPS schools joined with 4259 schools across the United States to promote active transportation to school.  If your school participated but did not register, please let the Safe Routes to School office know so that your school can be counted.  Take a look at the photos posted from around the county:

A big Thank You to FCPD, Crossing Guards, parents, and school staff that help to get our students to school safely every day and especially on Walk to School Day when more students walked to school.

If you would like to start a regular walking program at your school the Safe Routes to School coordinator can work with your school staff or PTA to provide ideas and incentives to promote a weekly or monthly walking program for students.  Walking school buses, mileage tracking, bicycle trains and bicycle skills clinics are ways to keep students and families excited about walking and biking to school all year long.
