WAKEFIELD FOREST ES Weekly Message

Wolf Run

Message from the Principal
Our Howling Wolf Fun Run was so much fun! Our students had a great time running with their classmates. We are excited to announce that we exceeded our pledge goal of $20,000. The final amount will be shared by the PTA once it is available. We greatly appreciate our partnership with the PTA. Money earned from the Fun Run helps fund the PTA budget, which supports a number of WFES initiatives, such as upgrading our 1:1 technology and purchasing new curriculum materials. Thank you to Virginia Buch and Megan Powers for Co-Chairing the Fun Run. We appreciate the support of all of our volunteers and our families for helping their students engage in this Fundraiser. At Field Day, select students will have the opportunity to pop Ms. Prindle and Ms. Williams with color, while the whole school watches.

We hosted our first Family Coffee of the year yesterday morning. We were excited to welcome so many parents and to share important information about the role the parent liaison, social worker and school counselors play at Wakefield Forest. These resources are available for all families. If you want more information about getting in touch with one of these staff members, please call WFES at 703-503-2300. Our Parent Liaison, Miriam Pitchford, will be at Wakefield Forest every Monday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.  You may contact her at the number above, or at mcpitchford@fcps.edu.

Positivity Project – Being present and giving others my attention
This element of the Other People Matter Mindset means that when we’re with other people, we are present and give them our full attention.  A deliberate focus on being present is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention.  Phone calls, text messages, emails, social media notifications all have the formidable capacity to pull us away from the present moment and what’s most important – our relationships with other people.
