Game Day Reminders
On behalf of Robinson Secondary School, we look forward to our Rams home football game against Lake Braddock this evening, October 11, 2019.
In an effort to provide an optimal game day experience for our fans and guests, below is information on tickets, entry, and general stadium guidelines. Please review this information so that you are familiar with our facility and procedures.
Tickets
Adult tickets are $6; student tickets are $5. Children ages 5 and under as well as senior citizens will be admitted free.
Seating and Entry
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
Middle School students will not be permitted entry without an adult.
Fans can enter through the main gate or the back gate (behind the tennis courts).
Backpacks, Bags & Other Outside Items
Purses, diaper bags and reasonably sized bags are permitted inside the stadium with adults. However, all bags may be subject to search and inspection.
Students are not permitted to bring bags or backpacks into the stadium.
Beverage Policy
No outside food or drinks are permitted inside the stadium.

Starting Times
All home football games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Smoking & Tobacco Use
Smoking and the use of all tobacco products on any Fairfax County Public School campus is prohibited. This prohibition applies to all individuals while on any FCPS campus, including faculty, staff, students, administrators, contractors, and visitors. Cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, snuff, pipes, and chewing tobacco are not permitted.

Schools Closed - October 14
As a reminder, schools will be closed for students on Monday, October 14th, for the Columbus Day holiday. October 14th is a school planning day for staff members. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 15th.
PSAT Day - October 16
On Wednesday, October 16th, Robinson will be providing our 10th and 11th grade students the opportunity to take the Preliminary SAT. For our juniors, that is also their National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).
Reminders for students who are testing:
- You may bring snacks and drinks for breaks. Remember to bring 2 No. 2 pencils (not mechanical) and an approved calculator (optional).
- Do NOT bring - Cell phones, laptops, smartwatches, timers or other electronic devices.
- Know – your home mailing address, FCPS ID number, and a personal email address.
- Registration is NOT required; FCPS is paying for all 10th and 11th grade students this year. For additional information, visit College Board- https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10
9th grade will participate in the Ninth Grade Transition Plan activity.
12th grade will have an opportunity to receive college application help on PSAT day from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.! This is completely OPTIONAL. Seniors will be expected to arrive at school between 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Students will not be allowed to enter the building after 8:30 a.m. due to PSAT testing. The college application workshops will end by 11:00 a.m. and students will be allowed to leave at that time. If students are waiting for the 12:30 p.m. bus departure, they may continue to work quietly in the assigned workspace. Plan to bring fully charged laptops. See your counselor or Mrs. Doyle if you have any questions.
Reminder: Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and buses will leave at 12:45 p.m.

Did your student love the Robinson One Book?
Did they want to continue discussing it after the school wide lesson in September?
If so, please encourage your student to sign up, no later than October 17th, for the Discussion & Donuts opportunity in the library!
Vaping Information Night at Robinson - October 23
Fairfax County Health Department: Severe Lung Illness Associated with Vaping
The Fairfax County Health Department is recommending that if you know of a young person complaining of respiratory issues who has a history of using vaping products, please suggest they seek care with their primary medical doctor. Health care providers in Fairfax County are being instructed to report suspected cases of severe respiratory illness associated with vaping to the disease reporting unit at 703-246-2433 or email at hdcd@fairfaxcounty.gov.
Additional information and resources for parents on the health risks associated with vaping have been posted online.

Senior Breakfast/Class Photo - October 29
Seniors are to meet in the Gold Cafeteria at 8:00 a.m. on October 29th for a special breakfast celebration. After breakfast, the Senior Class Photo will be taken. Bring your appetite and your smiles!

Art Department News
Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign "Virginia is for Givers" Poster contest
Robinson Secondary student artists Karsten Assoua, Isabelle Downie, Savannah Lowery, Peyton Medd, and Josiah Zayas were recently recognized in Richmond, Virginia for their award-winning artwork for the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign “Virginia is for Givers” poster contest.
The reception in Richmond, Virginia was packed with excitement and fun for the winning student artists and their families! For many student artists, the poster contest is the first time their artwork has been recognized and exhibited outside of school. Guest speakers included:
- Dr. Keyanna Conner, Secretary of Administration of Virginia
- Atif Qarni, Secretary of Education of Virginia
- Justin Fairfax, Lieutenant Governor of Virginia
Asha Jones, Fine Arts Department Chair for Robinson Secondary School was in attendance to support the art students and their families.
Teaching Artists Display Their Creativity at Annual Artist Teacher Exhibition
In collaboration with the Workhouse Arts Center, the Fairfax County Public Schools Fine Arts Office presents the 12th annual Artist Teacher Exhibition, an art exhibition recognizing the creativity and technical expertise of FCPS art teachers.
The exhibition is now open to the public through Saturday, October 26, in the McGuire Woods Gallery, Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton. A reception will be held on the evening of October 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Featured teacher artists from Robinson are Ms. Carrie Garvey and Ms. Kate Knizner, photography.
