Cardinal's Message

Dear Cunningham Park Families and Friends,

October has arrived, and great things continue to happen here at Cunningham Park! Wednesday was Walk or Bike to School Day.  We had a tremendous turnout with many of our students donning their walking shoes.  Casey the Cardinal made an appearance to greet everyone, and students were delighted to see our mascot join in!

Our specialists are working on fun activities that involve students using teamwork to accomplish a task.  In music, Dr K and Mrs. Blend had different grade levels demonstrate their teamwork skills through a variety of cooperative music activities.   In PE, Ms. Petty and Mr. Moxie are teaching each grade level how to play Gaga Ball so they can enjoy our new Gaga Pit on the playground.  Through these activities and games, students learn to work with one another and continue to build a sense of community.

Today, sixth graders ventured to Camp Hemlock in Clifton.  The day was spent with team-building exercises that allowed the students to interact with one another to problem solve and complete tasks.  Students did an excellent job working together.  It was a great field trip to start off the school year building trust and cooperation.

Have a wonderful weekend and we’ll see all of our students back at school on Monday.

Katie Le, Principal and Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project Focus for Next Week: Being Present and Giving Others My Attention

A deliberate focus on being present is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention. Phone calls, text messages, emails, social media notifications all have the formidable capacity to pull us away from the present moment and what’s most important – our relationships with other people. -Positivity Project
