Being Present

Dear Marshall Road Families,

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” Eleanor Roosevelt

Next week the Positivity Project will reinforce the concept of being present and giving others our full attention. When we are fully present, we are focusing our attention on the task at hand. We will model for our students how to have a conversation with a friend or family member while focusing our full attention and energy on what he or she is saying. This trait feeds right into our school goal of becoming stronger communicators. Consider pondering some of these questions at home with your family. What does it mean to be present? How can you be present in someone else’s life? Why is it important to be present? Can you think of someone who has been present for you and has made a difference in your life?

“Life is what happens when you put down your phone.” Kid President

The best way to notify the school of a tardy, absence, early release or change of dismissal is to email the teacher and the office at MarshallRoadElem.Attendance@fcps.edu . Playdates and other dismissal changes should be arranged before students come to school and both families must confirm the arrangement by using the above email address. Please do not drop your students off for school before 9:00 am as we do not have adult coverage before that time. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!

Enjoy your weekend and the cooler weather!
