Principal Message 10.2.19

Daugherty

Dear Beech Tree Families,

Tis the season for illnesses to visit our schools and homes. We have had a few friends go home for various different reasons: rashes, tummy aches, fevers, to name a few. Please practice hand washing with your students. We will support you here at school, as well. Our Building Supervisors Ms. Navarro and Mr. Sanchez are making sure to complete deep cleaning in classrooms as a precaution, as needed. We are also using Lysol wipes on door knobs throughout the day. You may wish to pick up a few extra wipes for your home and car, as well.

Speaking of the season, it seems as though we might finally feel October has arrived this weekend. Don’t forget to stop by “The Taste of Annandale” on Saturday, October 5th. The “Taste of Annandale” is a free, family-friendly street festival featuring food trucks, live music, an aerial dance performance, a best-dressed pet contest, a full day of children’s entertainment, 5K race, the police helicopter, a chili cook-off, vendors, and more. The Taste of Annandale 5K race starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Kmart parking lot, 4251 John Marr Drive.

While visiting Ms. Bacha’s Arabic class this week, I was reminded of just how much our students are learning! There are times that I am able to figure out what they’re saying, based on visual cues and interactive SMARTboard lessons. Other times, I am just blown away and all I can do is watch in amazement! Today was one of those days. Our 3rd graders were begging Ms. Bacha to let them have a turn at the SMARTboard to show me all they know. We have so many reasons to be proud of our students! Their love of learning and their kindness are two big reasons for us to praise their efforts.

This past Saturday we had two bus loads of families go on our Family Field Trip. Our Family Field Trips are some of our favorite opportunities to come together as a community. Please consider joining us for our next Family Field Trip, which is currently scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd to the Natural History Museum. We leave Beech Tree at 9:30am and board the bus to return to school by 12:30pm.

As always, thank you for your trust. Reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
