Next week is a designated Other People Matter Mindset (OPM2) week. Students will learn about being present and giving others their attention. A deliberate focus on being present is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention. We constantly get pulled away from the present moment and what’s most important - our relationships with other people. #otherpeoplematter |
After school on Monday October 7, all Lake Anne students and families can receive a FREE food truck meal courtesy of SEVA Food Truck. Walkers can pick-up their meals on the blacktop. Kiss & Ride parents are asked to park their vehicles and then walk to the blacktop with their student. School bus riders will be given their meals as they get onto their buses. |

Beginning Monday October 7, there will be new dismissal patterns for walkers, bus riders, and day care students. A separate News You Choose will be sent out with specific directions. Please help us implement these new policies on Monday to help alleviate the flow of students after school.

It is a reality that for some Lake Anne families, providing holiday gifts for their children is a challenge. We are here to help. Heritage Fellowship Church has partnered with LAES again this year to provide donated holiday gifts for children in our Lake Anne community through their Angel Gift Tag program.
If you would like to participate in this program, you must contact Lake Anne social worker Marcela Dzeda at 703-326-3587. Please leave a message with your contact information if Marcela is unavailable.
The deadline to include your child on the list to receive a holiday gift is 12:00 noon on Friday, October 18.
Critical and Creative Thinking Strategy #2
Fluency, Originality, Flexibility, and Elaboration
When students are able to come up with ideas (fluency), combine ideas in new ways or come up with unusual ideas (originality), then categorize and develop their ideas (flexibility and elaboration), they are more able to make inventive or creative connections between ideas.
This is a great strategy to use with your children to generate ideas for a family trip, a way to spend the weekend, the best pet for the family, creative solutions to problems that arise, and other situations that lend themselves to multiple ideas for consideration.
