Message from Principal Magliola
Dear Jackson Families,
Our staff is committed to ensuring high quality instruction for all students through our intentional approaches to collaboration. One of the most effective ways we continue to develop high levels of instruction at Jackson is through our discussion and action for all students in all settings. We know that in order to keep increasing outcomes for our students, we need to routinely examine where we are and identify clear next steps to help us close the gap in student learning.
As we close on the first month of our school year, it has been inspiring to see our vision for instruction come alive in classrooms and I very am proud of the work that we do together. Moving into October and beyond, I firmly believe we will continue to make progress in helping our students realize multiple levels of success. Please continue to stay informed from your child's teachers and join us for school and community events as they are scheduled.
In closing this week, I want to personally thank our Padres en Accion parents, Matt Hoffert, Vivian Yun, Monica Iskander, Diana Egas, and Lorianyi Feliz for their leadership in working with our students and families for our Hispanic Heritage Celebration (HHC) event this week. Please see our photos below of this fantastic evening.
Sincerely,
Michael Magliola, Principal

Wellness Corner
This week’s wellness focus is on hydration. Even though the temperatures are cooling down and we’re spending less time in the mid-day heat, it’s still important to hydrate! A good rule of thumb is to drink, at least, half your body weight in ounces every day. For example, a 150 pound person should drink 75 ounces of water per day. If you or your child is having a tough time drinking enough water throughout the day, try adding in slices of lemon, cucumber, strawberries, or orange for added flavor!
Why is water so important?
- It helps our kidneys filter and cleanse our blood.
- It relieves fatigue and gives our bodies energy.
- It improves brain function and helps us focus.
- It aids in digestion and helps our bodies absorb nutrients from the foods we eat.
- It keeps our skin healthy and hydrated.

Box Tops for Education
Luther Jackson is collecting Box Tops for Education! Every one of those little pink squares you find on packaging around the grocery store earns 10 cents for our school. Please check the expiration date, clip them, and have your student bring them to the front office. The PTA will do the counting and redeeming for us all! The money goes directly to our school. Thanks for your help!
