National Walk to School Day

On Wednesday October 2nd Lees Corner will be participating in the national walk/bike to school day. Please help your child find a safe route to walk/bike to and from school this day. We encourage all students to have a buddy and/or parent/guardian to participate.

Be a Buddy

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Across the country Buddy Walks are held to promote awareness, advocate, and raise money for Down Syndrome. There is a Buddy Walk in Manassas Park on October 6th! See link below for details.

Mental Health Resources

FCPS aims to support the positive mental health and wellness of all students.  School counselors are excited to share our mental health resource site for the Chantilly community.  We have created a site for parents/guardians located here at Chantilly Counselor Resources.  If you have specific questions or needs, please contact your child’s school counselor directly.

All counselors in the Chantilly Pyramid encourage families to attend the sixth annual FCPS Mental Health and Wellness Conference sponsored by Inova being held on Saturday, October 5, at Fairfax High School from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Participants will be able to choose from a wide variety of breakout sessions, and there will be many resource tables available, representing public and private offices and agencies providing services within our schools.  More information is available on the Mental Health and Wellness Conference webpage.

ColorCycle It!

cc

We will be continuing our Color Cycle Service Project again this school year. Please have your child bring in any old/used up markers to put in his/her classroom Color Cycle bin. Markers will be collected, counted, packaged and shipped to Crayola for recycling at the end of each month.

AAP Parent Information Meeting

A parent information meeting will be held at Lees Corner on October 7 at 6:00 pm in our school cafeteria. Our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Nicole Pierce, will provide information about the levels of advanced academic service as well as explain and answer questions about the screening processes for part-time school-based and full-time Level IV services.  This meeting is open to parents of K-6 students who attend Lees Corner.

Lice Resources

The beginning of school is a great time to provide information to parents and guardians regarding head lice and its treatment. Although lice do not spread disease, they can be a nuisance and cause great concern in the community.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) have provided several resources for parents and guardians who are interested in learning more about lice. These  documents are available in English and several other languages at the following links:

The Office of Talent Acquisition & Management (TAM) will host a Career Switcher Information Session at the Willow Oaks Administrative Center on Monday, October 14, 2019. Troops to Teachers will also present their program offerings to our military veteran attendees.
