GUESS WHO THE LION IS?
Dear Family Fairfax,
Today, I hope you excuse the abbreviated message from me. I am in the middle of Homecoming festivities, with a full Friday of events and surprises. I have been working hard on my dance moves, getting my throwing arm “ready” for candy in the parade, and preparing my circulatory system for the shock of the inevitable gazillion dunks in the dunk tank. It is great to be at Fairfax.
I am working with the subschool APs to begin weekly features from each subschool administrator. I think it is very important that you see and hear from each member of the leadership team, as we celebrate our students and community together. It will also allow you to get to know them a little better as well. We should be starting those for you very soon, and they will immediately follow my message—so be on the lookout.
I am hopeful that I will see a lot of our family tonight at the homecoming game. The buzz is in the air, the students and staff are super excited…It is sure to be a fun evening at Fairfax High School!
Go Pride! Beat Annandale!

Boys LAX Joining the Walk to End Alzheimers
Hello FHS, I am Coach Miller’s wife, Jennifer. I have made it my personal goal to help in the fight to End Alzheimer’s. It was a huge initiative for me to present the idea to my company, DH Companies, of participating in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s. I wanted to be a part of the cure and I want to see us beat this disease. My company graciously agreed to take this cause head on, and we will be walking to end Alzheimer’s on October 19th in Manassas. Besides walking, we are committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.
My husband had come to me and said he wanted the lacrosse program to be involved in a philanthropy each year and give back. I was so grateful when he told me that he wanted the inaugural cause to be one that hits so close to home for my family. We lost both my Grandma Vecchio and Grandma Drews to the terrible Alzheimer’s disease. It was a tough road for the entire family, coping with the changes of not always being recognized, not being able to communicate the way we used to, and not feeling the warmth of their love that had been present for most of our lives. We watched them struggle to express their everyday thoughts, something that we all take for granted. Dealing with the passing of these two wonderful women, hasn't gotten any easier. I feel like the more time that goes on, the harder it is and the more I miss my loving, hilarious, and sweet Grandmas.
Alzheimer’s is a disease that affects so many in the United States and I am sure that unfortunately it has hit close to home for many of you.
I would first like to invite all of you, to walk with us on October 19th. I also would like to provide you with a link to donate! Under DH Companies team, I have created a sub team strictly for Fairfax High School Lacrosse.
We are so thankful that the Fairfax HS Lacrosse Program is teaming up with DH Companies to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s.
