Dear Panther Families,
What a wonderful first week of October. The weather is mixing between summer and fall. Opportunities for outdoor recess and walk to school day were appreciated by all of our Panthers. Fall picture day was great with students and staff looking "picture day ready."
We hope to see many of you at Field Day next Friday. Please remember that you must come to the front office and sign in on the Visitor Management System with your photo ID before heading to the Field Day activities. You must sign in and get a sticker as a volunteer or a visitor.

Field Day: 9:00-11:00am for K-3rd and 1:00-3:00pm for 4th-6th
Field Day is October 11, 2019
(Rain date- Oct. 17)
Field day is Friday, October 11! K-3rd grade will be from 9-11 am and grades 4-6 will be from 1-3 pm. We need volunteer support to make the event run smoothly and safely. No prior experience is necessary as all students are trained for the events.

Calling all Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel!
Poplar Tree Elementary would like to pay a special tribute to all veterans and active-duty military personnel at our Annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 8 @ 9:00 am. We would be honored to have you attend this special event.
Please RSVP by emailing Holly Walker, assistant principal, at hjwalker@fcps.edu or calling her at 703-633-7400, by Oct. 31. Please share your name, military branch, military rank, child's name, a phone number and email.
If you are interested in presenting a short presentation or motivational speech (3-5 minutes) about your military career to the students, please share that in your email as well.
