Coming for lunch?

As a reminder, please make sure you check-in in the front office if you are coming for lunch. After lunch, you can come and check out in the office. We kindly ask that you say goodbye to your student in the cafeteria rather than walking them to their class or walking around the building.

Thank you!!

Attendance Matters!

If your student is going to be late to school or if they will not be in school because of an illness or appointment, please email or call our attendance line directly for each absence.

We ask that families  make appointments outside of the school day although we recognize some times this is unavoidable. We want all of our students in school all day every day.

Classifying Excused & Unexcused Absences

Attendance and active participation in class are crucial to a student’s academic achievement. Below you will find Fairfax County’s policy regarding excused and unexcused absences:

  • Reasons for excused absences include: illness of the student, death in the family, doctor or dentist appointment, observance of a religious holiday, suspension (except for certain violations as provided in Regulation 2601), or another reason acceptable to the principal or her/his designee.
  • Reasons for unexcused absences include: family and/or student vacations, child care situations, non-school related activities, missed school bus, traffic or car problems, or other reasons unacceptable to the principal or her/his designee.

Please also make sure your student arrives to school on time. In the event that a student is late, please walk the student into the building.

  • Reasons for excused tardies include: illness of the student, death in the family, doctor or dentist appointment, observance of a religious holiday, suspension (except for certain violations as provided in Regulation 2601), or another reason acceptable to the principal or her/his designee.
  • Reasons for unexcused tardies include: family and/or student vacations, child care situations, non-school related activities, missed school bus, traffic or car problems, or other reasons unacceptable to the principal or her/his designee.
