SkillsUSA Community Service Project

Skills USA

On September 11 and 12, Mr. Stringham took 41 students from six different program areas in Edison Academy to work on completing an amphitheater-style fire pit in honor of SkillsUSA’s executive director, Tim Lawrence, for his 50 years of service. Students earned seven service hours and will have their names engraved on a plaque that will be on display at the SkillsUSA center.

More Good News!

IB Language and Literature/10th grade English teacher Tammarrah Addison was recently lauded on the FCPS website by one of her students for her creative approach to the “American Dream” unit that she taught last year. In part, the student wrote, “The simple outline for the topic was vague so rather than grading a paper for our final project and ending the unit there, she organized a class period for us to present our work in front of our parents. This included bringing snacks and sharing our work, ranging from reading articles to performing spoken words, giving us a chance to really shine in whatever area we chose, even if that entailed hanging up our painting and explaining the importance of it”.

You can read the whole statement here: FCPS Cares

Congratulations, Ms. Addison!
