Greetings!
As September is in full swing, so is learning at Freedom Hill!
Mrs. Good and I are excited to be visiting classrooms and working closely with teachers to support their important work with your children. Our goal is to be visible and engaged across the school as we build relationships and work alongside the Freedom Hill students, staff, and community during the transition to your new administration.
Thanks to all who attended the annual Back to School BBQ! I understand it was a very successful event again this year! I extend my gratitude to our PTA for planning it and all the volunteers for helping out. I am so sorry that I was not able to attend. Check out photos on Twitter. https://twitter.com/freedomhilles.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to follow our school Twitter (@FreedomHillES). This is a great platform for sharing photos and videos of students participating in learning and celebrating successes. For many educators in FCPS, using social media in a professional capacity allows us to give the Freedom Hill parents and community a lens into the amazing learning, collaboration, and creativity that takes place in our building. Rest assured that our using social media in a professional capacity will not detract from students’ learning and will not include photos of students that have been opted out. If you have any questions about your child being featured in our Freedom Hill affiliated social media posts, please let me know and complete the FCPS opt-out form.
Tomorrow evening, Monday, September 16, the PTA will hold it's first meeting of the year. All are invited! Whether you are new to Freedom Hill, or have been a longtime parent of children at our school, it is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and learn more about how the PTA is planning to support the school this year. You might make some new friends too! We hope you will join us at 6:30 PM in the library.
Thank you for your continued engagement in your child's learning journey and school experience! It makes an important impact!
Warmly,
Pam Morgan

Sixth grade students explored the following topics: Information Literacy, Creative Credit and Copyright, Privacy and Security, Internet Safety, Self-image and Identity, Relationships and Communication, Cyberbullying, and Digital Footprint. Each collaborative team will present their final projects to the community during our Digital Citizenship Night. Final projects include music presentations, brochures, skits, and videos.

There are two easy ways you can help to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff at Freedom Hill Elementary.
Please consider submitting a short recognition statement to FCPS Cares for a teacher or staff member who has gone above and beyond! This is an easy and very nice way of celebrating the efforts of our Freedom Hill employees that can sometimes go unrecognized. Give it a try! Just click this FCPS Cares link and fill in six blanks. It just takes a minute and will mean so much to those individuals! They are recognized at the school and sometimes even the division level.
In an effort to help keep ongoing recognition as part of our school, families are invited to send a gift card of any amount to the attention of school administration (Mrs. Morgan and/or Mrs. Good). The gift card can be for anything, anywhere, and for any amount. No amount is too small. Each month throughout the year, we use the cards to recognize our staff for outstanding work in the school.
Thanks in advance for helping us recognize the work of Freedom Hill teachers and staff!
The 2019-20 Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms flier is now online at http://fcpsnet.fcps.edu/cco/strategiccomm/pubs/optoutflier.pdf. Any parent or guardian who objects to his or her child’s participation in any or all of the described activities should complete and return the appropriate form(s) to your child’s homeroom teacher.
