A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

We are looking forward to next week. On Tuesday, Constitution Day, September 17th at 10:10 AM, Douglas H. Ginsburg, a Federal Judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, will be speaking to an audience of our students at Justice High School for a Facebook Live event about how the Constitution applies to their everyday lives. Judge Ginsburg, a constitutional expert with 30 years of experience, promises to inspire our students to start talking about the document that governs those who govern us. If you would like to watch on Facebook, please register here.

We also have our Back To School Night scheduled for this Thursday. Our faculty and staff are looking forward to meeting you and sharing their content curriculum and class goals for this school year. Additional information is provided in the BTSN article below.

Our school wide Den Time lessons continue this week and will focus on behavior expectations, attendance (including a poster contest!), Digital Citizenship, and sportsmanship so that students are ready to support the Wolves during their next home varsity football game this upcoming Friday.

On September 16th and September 23rd respectively, our school will conduct lock-down drills.  Per Virginia State code- In every public school there shall be a lock-down drill at least twice during the first 20 school days of each school session, in order that students may be thoroughly practiced in such drills. Every public school shall hold at least two additional lock-down drills during the remainder of the school session. Lock-down plans and drills shall be in compliance with the Statewide Fire Prevention Code (§ 27-94 et seq. ). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact William Brooks, Assistant Principal.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, compliments, or observations, please let me know. You can also contact your student's teacher(s), counselor, or administrator.

Naviance & College Visits

Each year about 100 colleges visit Justice HS. The schedule for college visits is available in Naviance Student which students access through their Blackboard account and parents may access through their FCPS 24-7 Learning: Parent View account. Once in Naviance Student, click on colleges > see a few visits > show more. Juniors and seniors can register to meet with college admissions counselors to get school information, discuss their applications and answer questions. Visits are held at different times during the school day from mid-September through mid-December and last for approximately 30 minutes. The registration on Naviance Student will serve as the student’s pass for the visit.

Senior Transcripts/Letters of Recommendation

Students must turn in their transcript requests to the Student Services office 30 days in advance of the college deadline. Students who are applying to colleges with an October 15th deadline need to submit their requests to the transcript assistant in Student Services promptly. Students who are applying to colleges with a November 1st deadline need to submit their requests by October 1st. These reminders are sent in an effort to avoid unnecessary stress. Requests forms are available on the counselor’s Google Classroom site and in Student Services. Please contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.

Most four-year colleges and universities require the college entrance exam scores as part of the application.
