Dear Fox Mill Families and Friends,
This was our first 5 day school week this year and everyone showed enthusiasm for learning and following routines!
A big part of each child's day is specials time! Here are some beginning of the year highlights from a few of our school specialists:
Library:
During the first few weeks of school in the library students have been exploring the space, meeting Mrs. Slusher, learning routines, and checking out books! Fox Mill students love to read! Please contact Mrs. Slusher at skslusher@fcps.edu if you’re interested in volunteering in the library. Thank you.
Counseling:
Our school counselors have spent the first few weeks re-acquainting themselves with returning students and meeting the new student foxes.
Technology:
First graders are reviewing how to log in to computers with their usernames and passwords, and how to properly sign out. They’re also revisiting Wixie, a creativity platform, to explore the updated interface and refamiliarize themselves with how to draw, add stickers, text, and photos.
Fifth grade students have joined Google Classroom, created acrostic poems about themselves in Wixie, then shared their work with classmates using Padlet.
Kindergarten students have completed their first log on to the computers, entering their unique usernames and passwords. They’ve also been learning how to navigate to the student links page on the Fox Mill website, and have been practicing how to use a mouse by playing Bees & Honey.
Please mark your calendars for our first Principal's Coffee!
Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. please join Mr. Moose and Ms. Greene in the cafeteria. The agenda will include an overview of school and recess safety as well as an informative technology presentation by Mrs. Alger. Coffee and donuts will be available.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Moose Ms. Greene

If you haven't already, please follow Fox Mill ES on Facebook and Twitter. If your child's teacher has a social media account that highlights classroom activities, we encourage you to join.
Fox Mill is committed to only using social media in a professional capacity and this use will not detract from students' learning. All opt-out requests will be honored.
If you have any questions about your child being featured in FCPS social media posts, please let your classroom teacher know.
