September 11th Freedom Flag

Freedom Flags Ordered for Every School to Commemorate September 11
September 11, 2019 will mark the 18th anniversary of terrorist attacks on American soil, killing 3,000 people in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. To commemorate this historic event, Section 1-510 of the Code of Virginia officially designates the Freedom Flag as the official Flag of Remembrance of September 11, 2001.
A Freedom Flag has been ordered for every school in FCPS. Each school is asked to display the Freedom Flag on Wednesday, September 11.
Designed by a Virginian, the Freedom Flag features ten elements in a red, white, and blue design commemorating all who lived and died on that tragic day.
More information about the flag is available from the Freedom Flag Foundation, a non-profit public charity created to oversee the distribution of the Freedom Flag to schools, colleges, and universities.
