Fairhill Flyers

This is a running club for Fairhill students, boys and girls grades 3-6. We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, 4:05-5pm in the gym. Our first practice will be Sept. 17th.  We are preparing our students to participate in the Pumpkin Pie Run in November. More information to follow. Practice is not mandatory. We understand our Tigers are busy. Just come when you can. It’s a great way to exercise and have fun. Please see flyer here to sign up and return to Mr. Peevy. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mr. Peevy at pepeevy@fcps.edu.

Fairhill Fitness Fanatics

Fairhill Fitness Fanatics is a before-school fitness program which stresses fun, exercise, and good sportsmanship.  Students in grades 3 and 4 meet each Thursday morning while students in grades 5 and 6 meet each Wednesday morning beginning September 25th and 26th. On these days, students come to school at 8:00 and enjoy fun games and activities in the gymnasium or outside if weather is permitting.  This program runs from the end of September through the end of May.  We stress fun for students of all athletic abilities.  If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Mitchell, School Counselor (703-208-8130).

Kiss and Ride Safety Reminders

Now that the school year is underway, we recognize that many families will utilize Kiss and Ride in the mornings rather than take the bus. FCPS encourages ALL students to take the bus, if they are eligible. In order to ensure a safe environment for our students, we ask that you carefully read the Kiss and Ride procedures below:

ONLY drop off your child at Kiss and Ride from the designated area

We cannot have parents/students crossing the parking lot in the middle of arrival. The Kiss and Ride line moves quickly and we don’t want anyone to get hurt.

Please DO NOT block buses trying to enter the bus loop or try to pass buses.

There are times when there can be a bit of a hold up because buses and cars are entering at the same entrance. We ask that you please be patient as everyone gets through.

Children must unload from the passenger side of the car ONLY.

Drivers must remain in the car.  School staff will assist students getting in and out.

Cars must stay in a single file line as they move to and from Kiss and Ride.

Please, no passing other cars while in line and no premature drop-offs. Please do not pass buses either. They are trying to drop students off safely as well.

Please stay as close to the curb as possible when pulling into the school so cars may enter and exit safely.

Kiss and Ride is only available until 9:20 a.m.

After 9:20, you must park and escort your student to the main office. Students will be marked late at this time. As long as you are in line (inside the parking lot) at 9:20 we will continue to let students use Kiss and Ride, but they will be marked late.  If you are not in line inside the lot by 9:20 you will need to park and escort your student inside to the main office.

There is no Kiss and Ride in the afternoons

All adults must park in a parking space or on the blacktop and pick up their student in the cafeteria. Each student must be signed out on the clipboard by the adult picking them up. If you are late picking up your student (after 4:05) you must go to the main office and sign out your student there.

New Crosswalk/Crossing Guard

New to Fairhill this year, there is a crossing guard posted right on Chichester Lane to help students cross the street safely to school. We are asking all parents help us keep students safe by using this Fairfax County provided resource in the correct manner.

After students are crossed by the crossing guard, they should follow the sidewalk to school in the morning. We have posted teachers in the morning to help students cross over the crosswalks near Kiss and Ride. The same route should be followed in the afternoon.
