Mosby Matters - September 4, 2019

welcome back

Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year!

We are pleased to welcome our new families and returning families to Mosby Woods for a new, exciting school year! It was wonderful to meet so many parents at Open House. All of the children are so excited to be in school and are eager to learn.

We appreciate your support in preparing your child for the school year. You can help us by adjusting bedtime and purchasing supplies. Thank you also for encouraging reading throughout the summer. Mosby Matters is News You Choose sent the first and third Wednesdays of every month.

We are looking forward to an outstanding school year!

Picking Your Child Up Early

If you need to pick up your child early from school, please do so before 3 p.m. We can’t release students after 3 p.m. because it’s too close to dismissal at 3:20 p.m. Thanks for your cooperation.

two kids walking

Kiss and Ride

We always prefer students to arrive by walking to school or riding a bus. Significant traffic approaching the school always raises safety concerns. Should you need to drive your child to school however, please use the Kiss and Ride lane. PLEASE DO NOT PARK at Kiss and Ride.

Parents are asked not to use Kingsbridge as a Kiss and Ride because of safety risks. We have over 100 students that cross Kingsbridge and this would put many children at risk by parents creating more traffic.

back to school night

Back-to-School Night

We are looking forward to seeing all parents at one of our two Back-to-School nights. Thursday, September 5, at 6:30 pm is our Back-to-School night for parents of students in grades K-3 and Wednesday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. for grades 4-6. Back-to-School night is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher, hear about our high expectations for achievement and behavior and learn ways we can be partners in your child’s education. We ask that you make child care arrangements so that you can give your full attention to the information that will be shared. We look forward to seeing you then.

Here Comes the Bus® is now available.

This is a school bus tracking app that provides parents and guardians with real-time bus locations through text or email alerts. Here Comes the Bus® combines GPS and bus routing data in an easy-to-use, customizable app that works on one or multiple devices including smartphones, tablets, or desktop computers.

New STEAM Lab at Mosby Woods

We are so excited to have a new STEAM Lab at Mosby Woods! STEAM is a new “special” that we are offering which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. It helps to teach critical and creative thinking skills and promotes risk taking and problem solving through tough challenges. Not to mention that it is hands on and fun!

We could use your help keeping the STEAM Lab stocked with great, engaging materials for lessons, projects and challenges. If you are willing to donate, please sign up on Sign-up Genius. Please keep checking back, as the list will be updated periodically. If you have a supply not on the list you would like to donate, please email STEAM teacher, Peyton Avery. Thank you!
