Lockdown Drill: We are required to have two lockdown drills in the first 20 days of school. We will have one in the coming week. If you come to the school and we are in lockdown, there will be signs on the windows. Please wait patiently until we have completed the drill.
Kiss and Ride Reminders: Our Kiss and Ride is always very crowded. Here are some reminders:
- If you can, please have your child walk or ride the bus. The volume of our Kiss and Ride is due to parents driving students who might be able to ride the bus or walk.
- Please do not park on the school side of Barnack Dr. (especially in the afternoon). This is where the line of cars line up for the Kiss and Ride.
- In the morning you can enter the lot from Rolling, Harland, and Barnack, but in the afternoon you must make a long line along Barnack to turn into the lot.
- Leslie Bazemore is our awesome guard. She asked me to tell you to use blinkers or flashers and to make sure your wipers are on in the rain.
- When she is absent, the police officers filling in for her only cross students. They will not direct traffic.
Bike Riding Forms: These can be picked up in the office. If your child is riding a bike to school, it must be approved.
Advanced Academic Parent Information Meeting: A parent information meeting will be held at Rolling Valley Elementary on Tuesday, September 17th 2019 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the school library. The AART will provide information about levels of service and answer questions about the screening processes for part-time school based and Level IV services. The meeting is open to all K-6 parents. If you have any questions please email the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Christina Wood at chwood@fcps.edu.
PTA NEWS: The Welcome Back Breakfast was a success! Thank you to all that donated food, time, and money to make it a wonderful first morning back for our teachers.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The first PTA meeting will be held in the school library on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:00PM. Childcare will be available. All are welcome!
PTA MEMBERSHIP: Become a member of the RVES PTA! Your $10 gives you access to the online student directory, as well as funds field trips, classroom library books, technology, and MORE for the school. We love volunteers, but no time or volunteer commitment is required to be a PTA member.
You can use our online site, rvespta.ptboard.com, to register. Please also check out PTBoard for additional information about PTA activities and to access the online student directory.
BOX TOPS and AMAZON SMILE: The PTA’s easiest fundraisers!
· Box Tops (www.btfe.com): Collect and bring them to school or download the new app and simply scan your store receipt.
· Amazon Smile (https://smile.amazon.com/): Log-in to the website with your usual amazon account and designate Rolling Valley Elementary School as your preferred charity for rewards.
You don’t need to be a member of the RVES family to use any of these fundraisers, so family, friends, and neighbors can help too!
PTA Afterschool Activities: Below you will find a listing of the PTA-sponsored school activities that are being offered this fall. All class offerings use online registration and are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please be aware that some classes will not run if there are insufficient students. If this is the case, your money will be refunded. For scholarship information, or to apply for a scholarship, please contact Mrs. Boland as soon as possible.
