Dear Glen Forest Community,
I am thrilled to be starting my 10th year serving as the principal of this incredible school! What I love about Glen Forest is the opportunity to interact with our amazing families and learn about many different cultures. Did you know that we have children coming to us from all over the world! More than 50 countries are represented at Glen Forest!
During the year, we will host many events providing our families with the opportunity to meet each other and enjoy the fellowship of our diverse community. The first event is our 10th Annual Family Picnic which will be held on Friday, September 6th. Please plan on joining us!

With the opening of school, there is LOTS of information we are sharing and forms we are asking you to complete, sign and return. Please take a moment to read what we send, as it will help you to understand our procedures and ensure we have the necessary information to assist your children. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call the main office at 703-578-8000 to ask for assistance.
Even though we had a short four-day week, your children spent that time learning our school-wide routines and expectations, building a classroom community while also making new friends! We were busy and can’t wait for Tuesday, September 3rd when your children return from their long weekend…. school is closed tomorrow and Monday for the Labor Day weekend!
Lastly, one of our assistant principals, Mrs. Tiffany Young has taken an administrative position with another school district. We are in the process of hiring her replacement, but until that time please contact the following administrators if you have a question:

A Message from our School Superintendent
The FCPS Superintendent, Dr. Brabrand, has a special welcome back message for families.

Bus Riders:
We provide bus transportation for our students and recommend that you use the bus to help avoid the congestion and traffic delays experience since we have 19 buses! Sometimes our buses may be late, so please take advance of these two methods to know where the buses are at any time and if your child's bus is late. Click on the links to access the sites!
Kiss and Ride:
If you must drop off your children, please use our Kiss & Ride program. The safety of our students and staff is a priority, so we have established a specific area and procedure to drop off your children (and pick them up in the afternoon). The location is on the far-side of the school at Entrance #2. Students can be dropped off starting at 9:10 am. The picture below demonstrates the drop-off area. Please make sure your children exit your vehicle on the side of the sidewalk for their safety.
Walkers:
All students who are considered “walkers” will be dismissed from Door 4, which is on the back side of the school. Please greet your student at Door 4 and sign the check-out sheet. If parents drive to school, park and walk to the building to get their children, we ask that you go to Door 4, as the front of our building is used for bus dismissal.
Be Informed, Stay Involved!
Keep your contact information up-to-date
