All FCPS schools are closed campuses, which means that students may not leave school grounds for lunch or for any other reason unless checked out by a parent through the attendance office. Also, food ordered by students or family members for delivery to school for lunch is not allowed and will be returned to the restaurant on arrival.
With an emphasis on maximizing instructional time we will officially start Tardy Stations on Tuesday, Sept. 3. If a student arrives late to school or a class, he/she will go to the tardy station closest to their classroom. They will then be logged in and escorted to class by a staff member. Students who accrue 4 or more unexcused tardies will be assigned detention.
We still have a few hundred students who have not picked up their school-issued laptop. If your child still needs to get their laptop, he/she can go to the tech room by the library at the beginning of their lunch period. We know that accidents happen and they are to be expected, but please remind your student to treat their laptop with care. We have already had a few cracked screens and they should never carry their laptop just by the screen. Thank you for your assistance.

We are required to have a fire drill every week for the first four weeks of school; after that, they are held monthly. The first fire drill is Thursday, August 29 at 8:20 a.m.
We are required to hold four (4) Lockdown Drills per year. The first two must be within 20 days of the start of school. They are scheduled for Thursday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 17.
During a lock down drill (less than 10 minutes), the whole staff is engaged. The doors are locked and the phones are not answered.
To help you know when your child’s bus is approaching your stop, FCPS is now using the Here Comes the Bus mobile app. Here Comes the Bus is a free school bus tracking app that can simplify morning and afternoon routines for parents and students by giving real-time bus location and text or email notification alerts, helping everybody get to the bus stop on time . Here Comes the Bus® uses FCPS global positioning system (GPS) data and an easy-to-use customizable map that works on one or multiple devices, such as a tablet, smartphone, or desktop computer.
Parents can download the app now for free from the App Store or Google Play. You will need the FCPS school district code 28982 and a Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account (contact your child's school if you do not have an SIS Parent Account). Once signed in, you can customize or edit features, including how the app will communicate with you, and the size and location of the notification radius around your child's bus stop.
