Message from Principal Magliola

Dear Jackson Families,
Thank you for a great opening to our 2019-2020 school year! Our students did a wonderful job of learning their way around the building, establishing community, and connecting with their teachers and peers in their classes. Throughout the week, I was able to spend time in many classrooms as a participant and was thoroughly impressed with our student's level of engagement in their learning. It has been a true honor to serve at Luther Jackson Middle School and this week was a preview of the many great things ahead for our students. As this was my first school opening in FCPS, I want to thank all of you for your support and kindness over the summer and into this school year; Jackson Middle School is truly a culture of belonging. Please read below for important upcoming details and dates.

Sincerely,
Michael Magliola, Principal

AVID Grams on Back to School Night
Luther Jackson’s AVID program will be holding a fundraiser during our Back to School Night, September 10 at 5:30 pm in the front lobby. For only $1, you can purchase an AVID Gram that will help put a smile on your child’s face. With each AVID Gram you will have the opportunity to write an encouraging message to your student, which will be hand delivered with a pencil and a piece of candy. All proceeds will benefit the AVID program, which helps to provide students with opportunities to visit local Universities and prepare for global readiness.
Book Fair is coming!
This is an opportunity to put books in your students’ hands and support the library at the same time. All proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit Luther Jackson’s school library. The Book Fair will be held in the library during school hours from Monday, September 9th through Friday, September 13th. The Book Fair will also be open during Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 10th from 5:30 PM-8 PM. Prefer to shop online? No problem! Visit Jackson’s online Book Fair. Books will be delivered to the school and we will get them to your students. Please contact the librarians if you have any questions.

Beginning next week on 9/4 and 9/5, lasting from 2:20 pm to 3:15 pm, we are inviting our parent volunteers who are interested in helping us with making these calls in the various primary languages of our families to fill out the link below and join us at school.
