Clearview Updates-August 27, 2019

Kate at Welcome

Renovation Update

We had a very successful start to the 2019-2020 school year.  Everyone is very excited about our newly enlarge administration area and library and our renovated gym. The landscaping and new parking spaces out front are also making Clearview feel like a more modern school. Soon, the main office trailer will find a new home at another school under renovation.  Nobody is currently working in the trailer, so you will need to come inside to find the office staff.

The next big section we are hoping to be opening soon is our new entryway.  As you've probably noticed, we'll have clerestory windows letting light into the new entry which will have double sets of doors for added security.   For now, we request that students and visitors enter through the temporary Door 1 entry on the side of the cafeteria.

Significant progress has been made on the new wing which will house our kindergarten and first grade classes.  The current plan, if all of the work stays on schedule, is to move into the new classrooms over winter break.  Fifth grade classrooms currently in the red pod will move into the classrooms vacated by the younger grades so that renovation work can expand in the green and red pods after winter break.

Arrival Time is 8:40 AM

We want all children at Clearview to be safe.  We know that is what parents want, too.  Please be advised that there is no supervision provided for students before 8:40 AM at Clearview. The mornings are the only time that the staff can participate in committee meetings and other essential meetings with parents and colleagues that keep the school running effectively.  Please do not drop your child off at school before 8:40 AM.  If your child is a walker, please monitor the time when s/he leaves.

We ask that first through sixth grade parents say goodbye to their children at door number 1 and allow the children to go to their classrooms independently starting tomorrow.  Kindergarten parents do not need to walk their students to the classrooms, but we will continue to allow you to do so through Thursday, August 29.  We respectfully ask parents to allow children to go to classes on their own to build independence, ease the hallway congestion that is caused by additional adults in the halls, and allow teachers to take charge of their students as soon as they enter the classroom.

All volunteers and visitors are required to stop at the main office to sign in using the FCPS Visitor Management System.   This system requires visitors, including parents, to register using a valid driver’s license, state issued ID card or current passport.  You will be issued a badge to wear while inside our school.  This policy also applies to visitor going to the modular classrooms in the Presidential Village.
