Good Afternoon Waples Mill Families,
It was a pleasure seeing so many families at this week's Open House! We are looking forward to a great first day and an amazing school year ahead! Here are this week's updates and upcoming events:
Bus Delay Notification System and Here Comes The Bus App
The FCPS bus delay notification system will again be available to provide parents with timely notification of late bus route information. Morning route information will be available until noon. The afternoon route information will be available from 1-5 p.m.
The Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Transportation Services is also introducing a new school bus arrival app, Here Comes the Bus®, for the coming school year. The app is offered at no charge to parents. Here Comes the Bus® is a school bus tracking app that provides parents and guardians with real-time bus locations through text or email alerts. Here Comes the Bus® will be available in addition to the district’s existing tool, the bus delay notification system. For more information and to sign up, please click here.
Kiss and Ride Procedures
The Kiss and Ride line will be staffed from 8:50 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Please make sure your child exits out of the right side of the vehicle. We will do our best to keep the line moving and ask that you not pass other vehicles in the line. We appreciate your patience and assistance in keeping our Kiss and Ride line safe and efficient!
Kindergarten Bus Riders
Kindergarten students who ride the bus in the afternoon must be met at the bus stop by a parent, parent designee, guardian, or a responsible middle school or older sibling, and asked for by name at the bus door. Otherwise, the bus driver will return the kindergarten student to Waples Mill ES. If you have any questions, please contact the main office at (703) 390-7700.
Back-to-School Nights- 9/3/19 and 9/4/19
This year, we will hold two Back-to-School Nights for parents:
Tuesday, Sept. 3 - (Grades 3-6)
Wednesday, Sept. 4 - (Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 2)
Our teachers will hold two sessions to allow parents of multiple students the opportunity to visit both classrooms. The same information will be presented in each session. Here are the session times:
Session 1 – 6:00 - 6:40 p.m.
Session 2 – 6:50 - 7:30 p.m.
A brief PTA meeting is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. in the gymnasium, on each of these evenings. We hope you can join us!
Fall Picture Day - Thursday, September 12
This year's fall picture day is scheduled for Thursday, September 12. Yearbook photos will be taken on this day, so please make sure your children come to school on time! Picture retake day is scheduled for November 13.
Parents will receive a payment envelope to prepay for picture packages. Please be aware that you will not receive pictures if you do not prepay for them. You can also pre-pay online at www.mylifetouch.com and use the
