Open House at Primary will be structured differently in order to personalize the experience for kids, families and teachers. We have 15-minute slots from 8am-12pm and 1-6pm so that families and the classroom teacher can meet for a conference prior to the start of the school year. This will be an opportunity to share your hopes and dreams for the upcoming school year, as well as share any personal information about your child. This will also be an opportunity for your child and the teacher to begin to build a relationship and hopefully alleviate any back-to-school jitters! Please click here for a sample of questions to ask your teacher.
Preschool Families: The teachers will be contacting you to schedule a home visit for your open house.
To sign up for an open house time please select your teacher's name from the list below. If you do not know your teacher's name, please contact the main office.

NEW Student/Family Orientation
August 22nd 12:00-1:00pm
Primary Cafeteria
The New Student Orientation is an opportunity for families to learn a little about the Fort Belvoir Campus, and is presented as a joint opportunity alongside Fort Belvoir Upper School. Speakers will include the principals of both schools, our PTO president, Guidance Counselors, Public Health Nurse, Cafeteria Managers, Watch D.O.G.S. coordinator, and more. Following the meeting, building tours will be offered on the half-hour throughout the Open House event. Tours will gather in the lobby area of each school building.
Back to School Night (Parents only),
September 19th 6:00-8:00pm
Both students and parents are welcomed for Newcomer Orientation and Open House; students are expected to attend with a parent/chaperone. Please note that the Back to School Night on Thursday, September 19th, is intended for parents only, and child care is not provided by our school. However, we understand the difficulties parents may encounter with this, particularly due to military obligations, and other child care may be impossible to find. Should you need to bring little ones in order to attend Back to School Night, please be mindful of the spirit of the occasion and also bring quiet activities to occupy them so that all parents can listen and ask questions of our teachers/staff.
Open House will be a great opportunity to meet both classroom teachers and specialists. Additionally, our clinic room will be open to receive any medications necessary for your child. Fort Belvoir Primary specialists, PTO volunteers, and other community partners will have display tables in the Fort Belvoir Upper cafeteria from 1-4. Please stop by to learn about the great programs at our school and in our community!
In closing, please participate in our school as much as you are able. Helping hands are always needed, whether it is reading to the class, helping with groups and projects, volunteering for support with field trips or class parties, having lunch with students, or any other participation that will enrich our learning experiences.
We are looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you!
Kiss-N-Ride Sign-Up Information
Need to sign up your child for Kiss & Ride?
Registration for Kiss and Ride is only needed if you plan to pick up your child(ren) in the afternoon from the Kiss and Ride lane consistently (at least once a week). If you will use afternoon Kiss and Ride infrequently or for a short period of time, there is no need to register. No registration is required for morning drop off at Kiss and Ride.
You have 3 options for using Kiss and Ride as your method of transportation at Fort Belvoir Primary and Upper School.
1) If you only have children in grades K-3, you will use the Kiss and Ride Lane at FB Primary. Students will be dismissed from the FB Primary cafeteria (Door 9) to the FB Primary Kiss and Ride Lane.
2) If you only have children in grades 4-6, you will use the Kiss and Ride Lane at FB Upper. Students will be dismissed from the FB Upper cafeteria to the FB Upper Kiss and Ride Lane. NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
3) If you have children in grades K-3 AND 4-6, you will use the Kiss and Ride Lane at FB Primary. The older students will walk down to FB Primary and go to the FB Primary cafeteria for Kiss and Ride. They will meet their younger siblings in the cafeteria and be dismissed to the FB Primary Kiss and Ride Lane outside Door 9.
If you have a need to change your mode of transportation at any time, you must do so in writing. Also be sure that anyone who may need to pick up your child(ren) is listed in your emergency contact information provided to the school.

Chalk the Walk for our Fort Belvoir Elementary Students!
Help us celebrate Back to School at Fort Belvoir for the 2019-2020 School Year! We need your help as we want to decorate the sidewalks with positive messages for students to start the new school year. Please join us in decorating the sidewalks at Fort Belvoir Primary and Upper. Help every student feel welcomed and encouraged with chalk messages!
How can you help?
1. Pick up sidewalk chalk at school on Sunday, August 25th from the benches out front (or use your own).
2. Chalk the Walk either on the evening of August 25th or early morning on August 26th.
3. Share this post with community friends on Facebook, Twitter, at the pool, etc.
4. Don’t tell the students so they will be surprised as they walk on campus on their first day.
The Fort Belvoir Elementary Community is STRONG! Let’s welcome our students back in style! It’s going to be a great year!
