Rams Rally - Today! 2:30-5:30 PM

During Rams Rally, we welcome rising 7th grade and returning 8th grade students to visit Rocky Run.  Rams Rally is an open house format providing opportunities for students to visit the building before school opens, organize their lockers, walk their schedules and catch up with friends.  This is not a structured orientation, and teachers will not be in their classrooms. Schedules will be available online in SIS StudentVue and ParentVue starting today. Rams Rally will include:

  • Class schedule pick up and tour the building (updated school map will be provided)
  • Students can locate their locker and try the combination number
  • PE uniform sizing available (can be purchased through MySchoolBucks.com)
  • PTA membership information 
  • Medication drop off in the Clinic
  • After-school program information 
  • Meet administrators and counselors
  • Parent Liaisons (Spanish-speaking and Korean-speaking)
  • Special Education program information 
  • ESOL program information 

Please note that laptops will be distributed through Science classes and required forms will be collected through Rock Time during first week of school.

Due to limited parking, we ask that families carpool or walk to school if possible. Please try to schedule your visit according to your neighborhood elementary school.

3:30-4:30  Poplar Tree and Willow Springs 

4:30-5:30  GBE, Powell and Bull Run 

We recognize that following this schedule may not be possible for everyone, but those who can adhere to this schedule will help all students and families have a more positive experience.


7th Grade Student Orientation: Tomorrow, August 23, 8-11 AM (Students Only) 

Orientation for all 7th graders is scheduled for Friday, August 23rd from 8 -11 AM. During orientation, students will briefly rotate through each class, meeting their teams and teachers.  Students should bring their schedules with them to Orientation, but do not need any other school materials.  Students also will be able to access their schedule via StudentVue. 

Bus schedules for the orientation are below.  Students will board the bus at their neighborhood elementary school and return to that same location according to the times below.  Please note the bus schedule for Orientation is an abbreviated schedule and will not be the same as the schedule for the school year. 

Buses depart for RRMS

  • Brookfield: 7:45 AM (2 buses)
  • Bull Run: 7:40 AM (1 bus)
  • Colin Powell: 7:40 AM (1 bus)
  • Greenbriar East: 7:45 AM (1 bus)
  • Greenbriar West: 7:45 AM (3 buses)
  • Poplar Tree: 7:45 AM (3 buses)
  • Willow Springs: 7:35 AM (1 bus)

All buses will leave RRMS to return to elementary school at 11 AM.

We are unable to provide buses for schools with fewer than 10 students attending, and invite parents to carpool to drop/pick up their children at Rocky Run.


School Hours and Transportation 

We appreciate your help ensuring Rocky Run is a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

  • School begins August 26 at 7:30 AM
  • Student Arrival:  No earlier than 7:05 AM. Please do not arrive prior to then as staff supervision is not available.
  • Classrooms and trailers in Ramsville open for student arrival at 7:20.  
  • Once dismissed for the day, either at 2:15 or from the After School Program, students may not return to school for any reason.
  • Please follow all traffic procedures to enter and exit the school parking lot and Kiss and Ride. Thank you!

Transportation To and From School 

  • Students should access their assigned bus or walking route to get to and from school each day. 
  • Walking and/or Biking are strongly encouraged
  • Kiss and Ride is intended for families who MUST provide transportation only. 
  • Traffic through the bus loop becomes very heavy after 7:05 AM. 
  • DO NOT park in the staff parking lots to drop students off for school.  
  • Students who are are late to school as a result of Kiss and Ride traffic will be marked tardy.

Walkers and Bike Riders

Walking paths from surrounding neighborhoods are open!   Students who live on walking streets are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to Rocky Run.  Bike racks are located in Ramsville and on the side of the building to the left of Door 4 as you face the building.

Buses

All families should have received bus information through email messages, text messages and phone calls directly from the FCPS Transportation office. Parents and students can also use MapNet via Blackboard FCPS 24-7 to locate bus stop information and approximate times for pickup and drop off. Students will see the link for transportation when they log in to their Blackboard FCPS 24-7 Learning accounts. Students may only ride their assigned bus.

Bus Delay Notification System

Parents may access the following link https://busdelay.fcps.edu/  or the FCPS Mobile App to receive the delayed bus report.  Morning route information will be available through 12 p.m.  The afternoon route information will be updated from 1 p.m. through 5 p.m.  It is normal to expect a high volume of delays the first week of school. This system will be active on August 28th. Both KIT and Bus Delay Notification systems will run simultaneously until further notice.

Kiss and Ride

Please review the map for our new Kiss and Ride below.  A separate email for Kiss and Rise will also be sent.  Follow all traffic signs and be aware of the crossing guard posted at Stringfellow Road and Poplar Tree Road. For the safety of all students and drivers, students may only to be dropped off in the designated Kiss and Ride area.  Staff will be posted to support Kiss and Ride throughout the first few weeks of s school.
