Robinson Student Ram Blast, Week of August 26, 2019

STUDENT RAM BLAST

Providing students and parents with important updates and reports of events and happenings in the middle school.

Welcome Back!

Thank you for joining us for the New Student Orientation and RAM Rally on August 22nd.  It was wonderful to see all the smiling and excited students.  Remember, you can access your child’s school information through ParentVue in SIS.  These apps can be downloaded on your phone or you can access them through the FCPS website.

If your child was not able to attend RAM Rally, they may pickup their schedule up in their sub school office on Monday, August 26, the first day of school.  Counselors have been working hard to ensure students have full schedules.  If your child has an incorrect schedule or incomplete schedule, please email your counselor.  To find out who your child’s counselor is, it is listed as the 9th period on their schedule.

7th grade:

Jamee Lyons – Champions and Eagles Teams -  jalyons@fcps.edu

Valerie Peters – Comets and Stars Teams  -  vcpeters@fcps.edu

Back-To-School Night

We invite you to our Middle School Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 7:00pm. We hope to see you then!

Attention Parents of current Middle School Algebra 1/Algebra 1 Honors students!!

The MS Math Department is hosting an Algebra in the Middle School information session on Wednesday, August 28th from 6:15 – 6:40 PM in Davala Hall before Back-to-School Night (BTSN). The Algebra teachers would like to share some information with the parents that the short time we see you in our BTSN class time may not allow for all to be covered. If you are unable to attend this session, the presentation will be shared on each teacher’s Blackboard site.

Topics include:

  • The importance of having all stakeholders involved in the educational process – Student, Teacher & Parent/Guardian
  • The importance of having a “Growth Mindset” and the possibility of students hitting the “Math Wall” for the first time.
  • The difference between Algebra 1 and Algebra 1 Honors and that both are high school credit courses.
  • Digital resource (replaces a textbook) - MathSpace
